We believe in creating a Res Publica. In latin, that means a "public thing" or a place that belongs to the public. The Romans believed that such a place was essential for good citizens and good government. The framers of our own Constitution were no different. Benjamin Rush wrote, "Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal nor universal." At Founders Classical Academy we believe that education is one of the most precious gifts. We want to share that gift with our fellow citizens, so we created a Res Publica where we can serve and share.

FCAC's chapter of the Liberty and Learning Center has got off to a great start! For the past month, in our meetings, we have been wrestling with different current issues of our day and historical dilemmas. For example, we spent one meeting discussing the Supreme Court case, Schenck v. America. This case dealt with the question of whether anti-war activists had the right to protest against World War I.
