The corporate domination of our land-based food and farm system has rapidly taken to the seas. The U.S. seafood industry on track to triple in size over the next decade, with much of its profits flowing toward a handful of large companies. Alongside this explosive growth, many communities are being robbed of their generational fishing rights, while the proliferation of industrial-scale ‘fish farms’ abuse sea life, workers and our delicate marine climate.
Big industry may promote ‘blue foods’ and pay-to-play sustainability claims, but a more deeply anchored seafood system is poised for infrastructure and investment. Learn how values-based seafood delivers returns for communities, local economies and nature herself.
