I am an English teacher at Rensselaer Central High School, where I have been committed to fostering a positive learning environment since my hiring in 2019. In addition to teaching 9th Grade English, I serve as the Head Wrestling Coach, where I strive to motivate and develop student-athletes both athletically and personally.
Throughout my tenure at Rensselaer Central, I have made it my mission to leave a lasting impact on my students while building strong, collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and administration. In 2023, I was honored to be named Head of the English Language Arts (ELA) Department, a role that allows me to further influence curriculum development and instructional practices within our school.
I initiated the current Student Media program, which successfully evolved into a dedicated course that I taught until the 25-26 school year. Additionally, I have served as a Freshman Class Co-Sponsor and Co-Sponsor of our school's chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA), working to create enriching opportunities for our students. In our chapter of BPA's four years of existence, we have seen 15 of our students qualify for the National Leadership Conference, including five State Champions in their respective events.
In the past year, I was invited to join the Wabash Valley Education Center's Curriculum and Instruction Network, where I was able to network with other administrators and teachers from schools in the Wabash Valley Network. I also had the priviliege to lead the implementation of Khanmigo in our district at RCSC. Through this initiative, I have had the privilege of presenting on the integration of Khanmigo and artificial intelligence in the classroom to both faculty and administrators within our district, as well as to the WVEC Curriculum and Instruction Network. Recently, I conducted action research on the efficacy of Khanmigo Writing Coach as a collaborative AI tool for students in the writing process and had the privilege of presenting my findings to the product team at Khan Academy.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a Minor in Education Studies from Wabash College, graduating in 2018. As of October 2025, I have completed the requirements for my Master of Science Degree in English in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University, and will graduate in December of 2025. I am currently enrolled at Purdue University, working towards a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, with an expected completion date of August 2025. In addition, I plan to pursue my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Purdue University.
When I am not at school, I am with my amazing family. My wife, Maggie, is a teacher at RCHS and we have two daughters, Tatum (4) and Teagan (1). As a family, we love to go on bike rides, play at the park, or find the nearest swimming pool, splash pad, or waterpark.
