We take a number of measures to keep our children safe whilst using the internet.
Julian Coultas, our computing lead across the Trust, has developed a rich and informative computing curriculum which allows teachers to deliver interactive and up-to-date lessons to pupils, in line with DfE guidance. All lessons include elements of e-safety threaded throughout, with some units of work focussing on just this alone.
Children in the Rainbow Trust are continually reminded of good practise for staying safe online and encouraged to speak to adults if they need help or are unsure about anything.
As we use deices to support teaching in almost all subjects, good computing etiquette and online safety is embedded across all curriculums. This is particularly prominent in PSHCEe where we teach units of work which focus on having a positive online presence and how to deal with cyberbullying.
All parents and children trust wide must read and sign our REMAT acceptable usage policy to ensure that they are aware of our expectations when using school devices. These policies extent to online use at home, especially to children in upper key stage two who have a 1-2-1 device that they are able to take home.
All of our schools take measures to ensure filtering systems are in place to prevent them from accessing inappropriate information when in school. Our systems managers ensure that only appropriate apps and sites are available on our devices and usage is monitored regularly.
We also teach our children to use safer search engines like Kiddle.com and encourage them to practise these safety measures when accessing the internet at home.
