As a school community, we are currently working on the YPAS's Rainbow Flag Award programme. We aim to expand on our support and representation of the LGBT+ community in a positve way through our curriculum delivery and wider school life.
Along with providing staff CPD and classroom resources, the Rainbow Flag Award will recognise the effective, age-apprioate practice that happens across the school.
We will work allongside govoners, parents and carers and our pupils to ensure we deliver a diverse, postive and inclusive curriculum for all.
We want all of our pupils to feel comrofortbale in school. We ask all pupils to follow the uniform poloicy, but ensure this is not gender specific.
We ensure all staff and visitors are able to inform us of their preferd pronouns, and make no assumptions.
We use a range of story books to teach children about diversity and how to respect others. Some of our favourites inlcude The Family Book, Julian is a Mermaid and Worm Loves Worm.
We acitvely challenge gender steroegypes. We want all our pupils to be able to be who they are, with no limits based on their gender.
Parent and Carer Resources
We teach our pupils about the full diversity of the world they live in and the importance of respecting everyone.
This is done through our PSHCE curriculum and our wider school teachings (e.g. books etc.)
