I can hardly believe this will already be my twenty-sixth year teaching at L.M.E.S.! I came here after teaching special education students in Torrington, CT for ten years and working with autistic preschoolers for two years. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many families in this community and watching their children grow up.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy being active in my community. I live in New Milford, and keep busy with my church, family, and friends. I make prayer shawls, serve on church committees, and make meals for people in need. I enjoy reading and boating. My husband plays the bagpipes, and we keep busy with parades and concerts. My greatest joy is being a grandmother and spending time with my grandsons.
I'm so excited to be your writing teacher this year! We have so many fun moments ahead of us in fifth grade.
Don’t you just love telling your family and friends about funny things that happen? Sometimes even sad or even scary things? I’m always thinking about stories I could tell! I used to have a dog who thought he was a person…yes, it’s true. He used to sing along while my husband played the bagpipes, carry his dinner bowl to the sink, and sunbathe! I’m constantly writing notes in my writer’s notebook so I can tell stories about their adventures. I bet you have tons of crazy tales also. During the first week of school, I’ll give you a brand new writer’s notebook. During the year you’ll fill this notebook with your special thoughts and ideas.
Let's get ready for a fantastic year in fifth grade together!

Welcome to fifth grade! My name is Mrs. Augelli and I will be your math teacher this year!
I started my teaching journey in 2007; I taught fifth grade in Waterbury for six years before coming to Region 15 where I spent nine years as an interventionist at Memorial Middle School and Middlebury Elementary School, respectively. I have a master's degree in Elementary Education, as well as a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Bridgeport. It has been a joy getting back to my roots as a fifth-grade teacher!
I absolutely love being with my family and watching Tottenham Hotspur and the Yankees with my husband and children. Our dog, Paulie, keeps us on our toes, too! I am an avid runner and have coached track at Watertown High School as well as cross country at MMS. In my spare time, you will find me reading, writing, listening to classic rock (and Broadway showtunes), trying to learn Italian, and cooking healthy food.
I can't wait to meet you all soon! You can reach me at taugelli@region15.org.
My name is Dr. Susan Shaw. I have been an elementary school educator for forty years, and I presently teach fifth grade at LMES. I received my Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Western Connecticut State University in 2008. In addition, I am an Associate Faculty member of the Post University Master of Education program. I was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut and since 1977 I have resided in Watertown, Connecticut. I regularly volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Waterbury. This is an opportunity I find most meaningful. I especially value sharing time with my grandchildren and supporting them in their academic, athletic, and artistic activities. When I want to relax and rejuvenate, I head to the beach and surround myself in the peacefulness I find there. I also have three most loving rescue cats, Max, Sassy, and Benji. They certainly keep me busy. I am looking forward to an exciting and challenging 2024-2025 school year.
My name is Mr. Vesneski and I am excited to be your 5th grade math, science, and social studies teacher this year!
This will be my twenty-fifth year teaching at Long Meadow. I am also a Southbury native. I graduated from Pomperaug High School over a quarter century ago and I attended the University of Connecticut to earn both my bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education. I am proud to have had the chance to impact so many young lives as a teacher in Region 15.
While I am very proud to be known as a teacher, I also proudly play other roles outside of the school day. I love being the father of three amazing children and the husband of my best friend in the world. Many of you will also get to know me as a coach and runner. I am also a singer/songwriter, reader, life long learner, carpenter, and adopted Californian. Some titles I would like to add to the list include author, artist, and maybe even doctor. Never stop learning and growing or trying new things!
