Over the next several class days, you will be choosing a topic, conducting research, and developing a presentation on a medical condition related to the immune system.
You will need to do research, and develop an outline of the major chunks that we (your audience) should take away from your presentation .
Collect your research in an annotated bibliography.
Next, identify the major chunks of information that you want your audience to learn about this condition.
Research the chunks - I have listed some possible chunks below
Introduction
Symptoms
How is the immune system involved (e.g. how does this involve neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, B-Cells, antibodies, T-Cells, NK-Cells, etc)
Under normal conditions, how the relevant components of the immune system operate to communicate with each other and perform their functions?
In people with the medical condition, what specific functions are being performed incorrectly? Why are the components not performing their function properly?
Treatments - For each treatment, how does the treatment affect the components of the immune system to help foster a more normal function?
Promising research
Prognosis - What does the future look like for someone with this condition?
Demographics - who gets, this? What percentage of people have this?
