SVS Intro to  Pottery Gallery

Welcome to our Introduction to Pottery online gallery!  

The Introduction to Pottery course provides students with foundational skills in ceramic arts through experiential learning. Students engage in a series of hands-on projects and assignments focused on fundamental hand-building techniques, including pinch pots, coil construction, and slab work. The curriculum also introduces basic wheel-throwing methods. Emphasis is placed on understanding the physical properties of ceramic clay, surface finishing techniques, and essential ceramic terminology.

This course is a recent addition to Shepaug Valley High School, first offered during the 2023–2024 school year.
