School Crisis Resources
School-based teams provide prevention information, intervention, and support to school staff, students, and parents during and in the aftermath of a crisis or traumatic event. This team is also responsible for deciding if additional support is needed from the Central Crisis Team.
Crisis Preparedness and Response
Preparing for a crisis situation includes developing and implementing a procedure that uses a multiphase and multi-hazard approach to prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery of crisis situations. This procedure should be responsive to incidents defined in the Multi-Hazard Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) developed in accordance with the guidance provided by the Texas School Safety Center as well as crisis situations that may occur outside of the scope of the EOP.
Childhood adversity, toxic stress, and trauma can negatively impact students’ ability to thrive in school, at home, and throughout life. Below are resources to address prevention, intervention, and postvention for school staff to utilize.
