Science

Kindergarten is full of wonder and discovery. They will be encouraged to ask questions and make observations about the world around them. Here is a few of the units of study that your child will be participating in throughout the year.

* Weather (weather graphing, seasonal changes, observational walks)

* The 5 Senses

* Living vs. Non-Living Things

When you are at home, cooking and baking activities are wonderful ways to observe science happening before their eyes.

Children love taking hikes in the woods or even just walking around their neighborhood. Encourage them to make observations about the world around them and ask questions about what they see. I love when they bring in nature samples to the classroom. We love to get out our magnifying lenses and look closely at objects (leaves, branches, rocks, flowers, feathers, birds' nests, etc). These provide excellent real world opportunities to research, draw, label, and write, write, write.
