This semester I was in the Human Resources Department in Montgomery Memorial Hospital. I have learned how crucial HR is for the hospital. I learned how important the HR role is in creating a positive workplace for healthcare professionals. I gained many insights into managing recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations in a fast- paced environment where every decision makes a difference. I had the opportunity to participate in critical processes that includes, background checks, hiring process, helping manage terminations, and ensuring proper documentation. Each task reinforced the importance of attention to detail, confidentiality, and compliance in HR operations.
Background checks and the hiring process allowed me to understand how to select candidates who align with MCMH values and meet demands of fast-paced environments. Being involved in the termination process gave me insights into handling sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. Documentation proved to be a cornerstone of HR work, highlighting the need for accuracy and organization to support smooth operations and legal compliance.
Overall, this experience has strengthened my skills, broadened my understanding of HR's impact on organizational success, and given me a deeper appreciation for how important HR is in supporting both employees and the institution.
This semester I was lucky enough to have two internships! My second one was being in a Kindergarten Classroom! It was very rewarding and an eye-opening experience. I had the chance to support young learners during a very important stage in their lives and development, assisting with activities, managing classroom routines, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Working closely with teacher and students, I gained a deeper understanding of how patience, clear communication, and adaptability are essential in guiding children through their early educational experiences. Whether helping with hands-on projects, encouraging social interaction, or helping with basic skills like reading and writing, I saw firsthand how small efforts can have a significant impact on a child's growth and confidence.
This role helped enhance my ability to problem solve in the moment and approach situations with empathy and understanding. It's been a privilege to contribute to an environment where curiosity and learning thrive, I leave this semester with a new appreciation for the important work educators do every day.
