Ensembles

REV Instrumental Music - Ensembles & Classes:

Period 2 – Symphonic Band: The Concert Band is made up of brass, woodwind, and percussion players. Music theory, music reading and ensemble plaing are emphasized while taking part in all school performances, including but not limited to Evening of the Arts, Winter Concert, Festivals, Spring Concert and Movie Night. Students enrolled in Symphonic Band are encouraged to join the Redlands East Valley Marchng Wildcats. Incoming Freshman should sign up for this ensemble. This is a non-audition ensemble.

Period 3 - Chamber Strings: The Chamber Strings is an audition-only advanced ensemble that performs extensively throughout the fall and spring semesters. They perform at several school and community events and festivals. Exceptional musicians will be considered for this ensemble but must complete an audition at Redlands East Valley High School. Chamber Orchestra students are also invited to be part of the pit or colorguard in the Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats.

Period 4 - Wind Ensemble: The Wind Ensemble is an audition-only advanced ensemble that performs extensively throughout the fall and spring semesters. They perform at several school and community events and festivals. Exceptional musicians will be considered for this ensemble but must complete an audition at Redlands East Valley High School. Students enrolled in Wind Ensemble will also be expected to participate in the Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats.

Period 6 - String Orchestra: The String orchestra is made up of violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano players. Music theory, music reading and ensemble playing are emphasized while taking part in all school performances, including, but not limited to Evening of the Arts, Winter Concert, Festivals, Spring Concert and Movie Night. String Orchestra students are also invited to be part of the pit or colorguard in the Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats. Incoming Freshman should sign up for this ensemble. This is a non-audition ensemble. Period 5 – Jazz Band – The Jazz Band is an intermediate group for students with greater experience on their instruments. Understanding of basic theory is a pre-requisite as this is a more theory intensive course. They perform at several school  and community events and festivals and take part in all performances, not limited to Evening of the Arts, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert. Students enrolled in Jazz Band will also be encouraged to participate in the Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats.

Period 7 - Redlands East Valley Marching Wildcats: The Marching Wildcats consists of winds, drum line, percussion, and color guard. It is mandatory that all wind and percussion players enroll in a band or string class in addition to Marching Band. Marching Band is a graded period that is scheduled outside of the school day, so it does not take up an actual class period in your day. Rehearsals are primarily after school. Period 7 - Color Guard:  In the Fall, the Color Guard is part of the REV Marching Wildcats. In the Winter, there is an audition-only group called Winter Guard available for indoor guard competitions.

Period 7 - Drumline:  In the Fall, the Drumline is part of the REV Marching Wildcats. All percussionists are required to audition to participate in Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and/or Symphonic Band. Drumline will also compete during the winter season. Contact Mr. Hollett to schedule an audition.

Various other ensembles at Redlands East Valley High School meet throughout the year. Some of these ensembles include Brass Band, Rock Band, Chamber Ensembles, Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, and Pit Orchestra for the school musical. 50 selected winds, brass, percussion, and strings are chosen for a special Heritage Festival in the Spring. The festival may be at Disneyland, Universal Studios, or other Southern California location.
