ABOUT:
CnC is for students who show warning signs of disengagement with school. Intervention includes a relationship with a trusted mentor who advocates for and challenges the student to keep education salient. Increases in attendance, school persistence, credit accrual, school completion with reduction in truancy, tardies, referrals, and dropouts.
HOW TO:
Mentors systematically monitor student performance variables (E.g., absences, tardies, behavior referrals, grades), while providing personalized, timely interventions to help students solve problems, build skills, and enhance competence. Ideally, mentors work with the student (and their family) for two years to build constructive family-school relationships.
