Dear Reddford House Families,
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.... – William Shakespeare
Today, the role of the school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society. At Reddford House Blue Hills, we have provided an atmosphere to our students for multifaceted development, where children are encouraged to channel their potential in pursuing excellence. This can only be possible in a holistic, accepting environment.
Learning is not progress limited to schools and colleges only, nor does it end with the conclusion of one’s school career. It is indeed a lifelong process. This school is focused on the total formation of a child and the adaptation of various methods suiting the changing world dynamics to achieve common goals and objectives. Shared vision-responsibilities further characterize it and above all, love and faith in each child to achieve these goals.
Dear students, my message to you all is that people of fine character live by their values. They are honest and are committed to truthfulness, word, and deed. Their true character thus encompasses the capacity for self-discipline.
Character creates self-respect, which in turn leads to high self-esteem. Maturity is reflected in all aspects of character-the decisions we make, the friends we choose, and the responsibilities we accept. Always remember to uphold the dignity of people. Be always ready to give preference to others.. Have something to live for. Bring out the best in you.
Over the last three years, Reddford House Blue Hills has been my home. I will truly miss the warmth and love that comes from being in the space daily. I wish every member of the community all the best for the future.
A reminder that school closes at 10:00am on 8 December. There will be no aftercare on this day.
Wishing you all a wonderful December holiday.
Yours Sincerely
Zain Strydom
Head of Campus
We have sent out information regarding an admin-review process. We are making use of this process to ensure that we have the most up-to-date information on record for each family.
Red Café and Adventure zone sign-up for 2023 also form part of this process, having this information, assists us hugely in preparing for the first week of school in 2023.
Should you have any problems in completing this process, please reach out to us at info@bluehills.reddford.co.za or come into the office for further assistance.
Safeguarding the well-being of all on our campus is a priority. Please ensure you familiarise your family, drivers and friends with the information below.
The maximum speed in our car park is 20 kilometres per hour.
Please refrain from avoiding the speed bumps by driving around or through parking bays. This is dangerous and near-miss incidents are being reported regularly to the school.
We operate a oneway loop in all car parks, please do not drive against the traffic.
Our Drop-and-Go areas are not for parking vehicles. Please use a parking bay if you are exiting your vehicle.
Please do not park in reserved bays, in front of fire hydrants or in no-stop zones.
If you experience any incidents or near misses, please let us know.
If a vehicle has no tag, the parent/visitor will need to sign in at security.
Our system has been upgraded, only cars with tags will have automatic exit at both gates. Cars without tags will need to wait for security to open the exit gate for them.
Please do not tailgate at boom gates - wait for the gate to close/open before approaching.
We have reintroduced biometric readers at our entrances. This will be used by those parents whose cars do not support the microchip in their windscreens, as well as approved transport and service providers.
No child may exit the school premises during the school day without a permission slip.
Uber/Lift and any other e-hailing company may not enter the premises and must wait outside. Please ensure you contact the school to advise that your child may use these services with your permission. EXEAT slips are provided to the children.
Our Car Tag Order Form and EXEAT permission and other forms are available on our school app under the "Forms" section - please ensure you have this downloaded and refer to it regularly to view updates etc.
Transport companies require registration and police clearance documents to be submitted to gain access to the campus.
At Reddford House we take a ZERO tolerance approach to the misuse of social media platforms. We continue to remind our students about the dangers and legal consequences.
We ask that parents support the school by ensuring that you are aware of what is happening on your child’s devices, but that you also place a healthy home routine in place.
We often have incidents with regards to inappropriate social media "likes", "shares", uploads, as well as harmful group chat communication.
As a reminder to all our Blue Hills Community, please think about what you post or comment on, especially if what you say is not factual or can’t be substantiated. Don't post if you can't put it on a billboard! Sharing is promoting content, so think before you "share". If you don't agree with that is being said on WhatsApp, remove yourself from the group or chat immediately.
