Courses and Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements

Red Bud High School requires 22 total credits for students to meet graduation requirements, with the following specific credits earned.

4.0 credits of English

3.0 credits of mathematics

2.0 credits of science

2.5 credits of social science*

1.0 credit of music, art, vocational courses, or foreign language

0.5 credit of health

0.5 credit of consumer education**

*1.0 credit of social science electives, 1.0 credit of American History, and 0.5 credit of American Civics. Students must also pass tests of the flag, U.S. & IL Constitutions.

**Requirement can be satisfied with 0.5 credits of Personal Finance, 1.0 credit Agribusiness Management, 2.0 credits StartUP, or 0.5 credit Family Living.

Students must also complete the Illinois School Day SAT as well as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the FAFSA Waiver.


College Recommendations

4 years English

3 years math (Algebra I and higher; senior year math class strongly recommended.)

3 years lab science

3 years social science (emphasizing history and government)

2 years music, art, and/or foreign language
