Inspiring Minds, Hearts and Spirits
MR STEPHEN DWYER | Term 2, Week 11
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of our College community,
As another full and rewarding term draws to a close, we pause to reflect with gratitude on the many achievements, celebrations and moments of learning that have enriched life at Red Bend. I thank our students, staff, families and the wider College community for their ongoing support and commitment, and I wish everyone a safe, restful and well-deserved break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term on Tuesday, 21 July, refreshed and ready for the opportunities that lie ahead.
Centenary of Marist education in Forbes celebrations
On Sunday, 5 July, our College community celebrated a truly historic milestone, 100 years of Marist Education in Forbes. Guests gathered for a day of gratitude, celebration and reflection as we honoured the remarkable journey that began on 5 July 1926.
The celebrations commenced with a Centenary Mass, bringing together current and former students, past Prinicpals, current and former staff, Marist Brothers, Sisters of Mercy, clergy, families and friends. The liturgy celebrated the faith, vision and dedication of the Marist Brothers who founded the College, the Sisters of Mercy who enriched our community following coeducation in the 1970s, and the many lay staff who continue to carry the Marist mission forward today. Our College Captains, Gabriella and Max presented inspiring and reflective presentations of their experience in our Marist community. Click here to read Gabriella and Max's speeches.
Guests then enjoyed a celebratory luncheon where stories, memories and friendships were renewed across generations. It was a wonderful reminder that Red Bend Catholic College is far more than a school, it is a lifelong community united by faith, friendship and shared experiences.
Reflections were shared by Brother Darren Burge, Provincial of the Star of the Sea Marist Province, Brother David Hall, Chair of Marist Schools Australia Ltd, Dr Frank Malloy, National Director of Marist Schools Australia, Mrs Trish Martin, long-standing staff member and Principal Stephen Dwyer. Each acknowledged the vision and courage of those who established Marist education in Forbes while recognising the generations of students, staff and families who have faithfully built upon that foundation.
The celebration also recognised the many organisations and individuals whose generosity and support have shaped the College over the past century, including the Bishops and clergy of the Diocese, Marist Brothers, Marist Schools Australia, the Sisters of Mercy, the Ex-Students Association, the College Advisory Council members, the Parents and Friends Association, the Diocese of Wilcannia–Forbes, benefactors and volunteers.
As we celebrate this remarkable centenary, we do so with deep gratitude for all who have contributed to our story and with great hope for the future. Guided by our Vision for Learning, Inspiring Minds, Hearts and Spirits, and the enduring Marist values that have shaped generations, Red Bend Catholic College looks confidently towards its second century of forming young people as good Christians and good citizens.
Celebrating Our Marist Story on Champagnat Day
In week 7, our community came together to celebrate one of the most significant days in our school calendar, Champagnat Day, honouring the life, vision and enduring legacy of St Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers.
The day commenced with a whole-school Mass, providing an opportunity for students and staff to gather in prayer and give thanks for the Marist charism that has shaped our College community for the past 100 years. As we celebrate our Centenary, this year's Champagnat Day held even greater significance, reminding us of the countless Marist Brothers, Sisters of Mercy, lay staff and families who have faithfully carried forward Marcellin's dream of making Jesus Christ known and loved through education.
Following the Mass, students and staff gathered for our annual Champagnat Awards Ceremony. These prestigious awards recognise students and a staff member who consistently demonstrate the values and characteristics that St Marcellin Champagnat sought to nurture in every young person. More than academic achievement or sporting success, the Champagnat Awards celebrate those students who quietly lead by example, show genuine care for others, embrace opportunities, work diligently, and contribute positively to the life of the College.
Congratulations to all recipients of the 2026 Champagnat Awards. Your commitment to living our Marist values each day is a wonderful example to your peers and reflects the spirit that has shaped Red Bend Catholic College for the past century.
Champagnat Day reminds us that we are all custodians of a remarkable legacy. Inspired by the example of St Marcellin Champagnat, we continue our mission of forming young people to be good Christians and good citizens, so that they may make a positive difference in the world.
The day was a fitting tribute to the enduring Marist spirit that continues to shape the lives of every member of the Red Bend Catholic College community.
Celebrating NAIDOC Week and Sorry Day
Red Bend Catholic College proudly marked National Sorry Day and NAIDOC Week with meaningful celebrations that invited our community to reflect, learn and walk together in the spirit of reconciliation, respect and hope.
This year's NAIDOC Week theme, "50 Years of Deadly," celebrated five decades of recognising the strength, resilience, achievements and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It also challenged all Australians to continue building a future founded on respect, truth and partnership. As a Catholic Marist community, we embraced this call by celebrating the gifts of First Nations peoples and reflecting on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation through our everyday words and actions.
A highlight of our celebrations was welcoming respected guest speaker Mr Roy Ah-See. Through his inspiring and deeply personal presentation, Mr Ah-See encouraged students to embrace every opportunity, live with courage and purpose, and discover what truly enlivens their spirit. His message of resilience, self-belief and the importance of culture, family and community resonated strongly with all who attended.
These celebrations reflected our mission to form young people who are compassionate, respectful and committed to making a positive contribution to society. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Roy Ah-See for sharing his story and inspiring our students to dream boldly, value their gifts and help build a more just and inclusive future.
Thank You Dr Frank Malloy
As Dr Frank Malloy concludes his service as National Director of Marist Schools Australia at the end of this term, the Red Bend Catholic College community extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest gratitude.
As a proud former student of our College, Frank has remained closely connected to Red Bend throughout his distinguished career. His leadership has been marked by wisdom, humility, vision and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that the Marist mission continues to flourish across Australia.
Frank has provided outstanding leadership and support to our College community and to Marist schools and educational communities throughout the nation. His encouragement, guidance and steadfast belief in the transformative power of Catholic Marist education have strengthened countless leaders, teachers and students. Through his leadership, he has inspired schools to remain faithful to the vision of Saint Marcellin Champagnat while embracing the opportunities and challenges of contemporary education.
On behalf of the entire Red Bend Catholic College community, we thank Frank for his remarkable service, his generous support and his enduring commitment to Marist education. We are immensely proud to call him one of our own and wish him every blessing, good health and happiness in his retirement. May this next chapter be filled with the same joy, purpose and generosity that have characterised his extraordinary vocation of service.
Congratulations, Frank, and thank you for the lasting legacy you leave to the Marist family.

This week, we farewelled our longstanding staff member as Jenny Neilsen who concluded an extraordinary 50 years of service to our community. Jenny's journey began in 1977, shortly after the formation of Red Bend Catholic College, when she undertook the important task of cataloguing the library following the merger of the three founding schools. Over the next five decades, she served with unwavering loyalty in a variety of roles, including administration, Director of Boarding and, more recently, boarding administration. Throughout her career, Jenny became a trusted source of knowledge and support for generations of students, families and staff, offering wisdom, kindness and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of others.
Jenny's legacy is measured not only by her remarkable length of service but by the countless lives she has touched through her quiet generosity, professionalism and care. She has provided stability and continuity through decades of change. In recognition of her outstanding contribution, Jenny was presented with a Marist Schools Australia Service Award and a letter of appreciation from College Advisory Council Chair, Dr Mark Turkington. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jenny for her exceptional service and wish her every happiness, good health and blessing as she begins this well-deserved retirement.
May Mary our Good Mother and St Marcellin Champagnat continue to watch over our community.
Dear Families,
As Term 2 draws to a close, I extend my sincere thanks to our students, staff, and families for your continued partnership and support. This term has been rich in learning, spiritual growth, and community connection, all of which reflect the Red Bend Way as we seek to Inspire Minds, Hearts and Spirits.
Throughout the term, our students have embraced their journey as active and empowered learners, demonstrating initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to personal and academic growth. Across both classroom learning and co-curricular opportunities, they have shown resilience and a willingness to strive for excellence, embodying the values that underpin our Red Bend Way.
These achievements are a testament to the strength of our school community and the shared commitment to nurturing each student’s potential.
As we enter the holiday break, I encourage all members of our community to take time to rest, reflect, and recharge. May this be an opportunity for renewal and connection with family and friends.
I look forward to welcoming our students back in Term 3, ready to continue their learning journey and embrace new opportunities and challenges together.
Attendance
I have consistently written to families about the importance of school attendance, and this remains a key priority for our College community. Research continues to show a strong connection between regular attendance, student engagement, wellbeing and academic success.
To further promote and celebrate positive attendance habits, we will be introducing an Attendance Award in Term 3. This award is designed to recognise and acknowledge students who demonstrate a strong commitment to their learning by attending school every day. It is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, resilience and positive habits that support success both in and beyond the classroom. This will be awarded at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.
As we continue through 2026, I encourage all families to strive for at least 90% attendance wherever possible. While this may sound like a high figure, it equates to approximately 20 missed school days across the year, or around one day per fortnight. Every day at school provides valuable learning opportunities and helps students maintain strong connections with their teachers, peers and the wider College community.
We understand that there can be genuine reasons for absences, and our aim is always to work in partnership with families to support regular attendance. If there are concerns about your child's attendance, the relevant House Coordinator will be in contact to discuss how we can assist. I also encourage families to reach out to the College if they would like to discuss any attendance related matters.
Together, we can support all students to make the most of the opportunities available to them each day at school.
Late Arrivals and Early Departures - Important Reminder
It is important that families notify the College if their child will be arriving late or leaving early. This can be done by:
Emailing or contacting the Student Services Office (SSO) with the reason for your child’s late arrival or early departure; or
Attending Reception in person to sign your child in or out with front office staff.
Please note that all students arriving late or departing early must be signed in or out at the front office by a parent or carer.
SSO contact details 02 6851 1558 or sso@redbendcc.nsw.edu.au
Student Details - Important Reminder for Parents/Carers
The College is required to maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information for all students. This includes general contact details, as well as any relevant medical information, plans, or changes in circumstances.
We ask that parents and carers promptly notify the College of any updates to their child/ren’s personal, medical, or contact information. Keeping these details current is essential to supporting the wellbeing and safety of every student within our community.
If your child/ren’s details have changed, please contact the College on 02 6852 2000 or via email at rbcc@redbendcc.nsw.edu.au
Game Changers Regional Retreat Day and Marist Youth Ministries Visit
Three team members from Marist Youth Ministries SW visited Red Bend on June 12 for our regional La Valla retreat Day with Marist College Canberra.
The team met with all our Le Rosey (7 and 8) and Hermitage (Year 11) groups on Thursday afternoon and gave these groups a wonderful boost.’On Friday, they led our Year 9 and 10 students, along with our guests from Canberra, through a day of games, spiritual reflection and social justice education.
In Term 4, our Year 7 and 8 students will have an opportunity to visit Canberra for their regional retreat Day.
La Valla Game Changer Rereat - Mittagong 14-16 August
Each year, selected students from our Year 10 Game Changer group travel to Mittagong. The La Valla Leadership Camp is a gathering of Year 10 Game Changers from Marist schools across Australia. The weekend is coordinated by the Marist Youth Ministry team and designed to provide students with an opportunity to grow as Christian leaders and learn about the importance of demonstrating servant leadership within their communities. The La Valla Leadership Camp gives students a chance to have fun, expand their Marist community and strengthen their faith.
Students who are in Year 10 and involved in Game Changers can submit an expression of interest for this trip here
House Liturgies
Part of the role of House Liturgy Captain is to prepare and lead prayer with their House in our chapel once each term. Earlier this term, our houses were led through Easter reflections. More recently, the liturgies have encouraged students to reflect on social justice and treating others justly.
Year 12 Trial HSC Exams
With the end of school just over a term away (plus the final exams), Year 12 are preparing to sit their upcoming Trial exams. The Trial HSC exams begin in Week 3 on Monday 3 August and continue through to Monday 18 August. These are very important exams as they give students a practice run at what the HSC exam will be like. Below is some advice for both the students who are working hard to prepare and the parents, who provide the vital backbone of support at home.
To our students - You have got this!
Remember these exams are a dress rehearsal. Prepare well for these exams and walk in knowing you have tried your best.
Some points to remember:
The trials are designed to show you exactly what you know and, more importantly, where the gaps are. A mistake made in a trial exam is a mistake you won’t make in the final exams.
Look back at how far you’ve come since the beginning of the year. The knowledge is there. Trust your preparation, your teachers, and your skills.
No one expects a flawless performance. We expect effort. Take a deep breath, read the questions carefully, and attempt every question. Don’t leave anything blank.
Make sure while studying over the next 4 weeks and during the exams that you get 8 hours of sleep each night (Prioritise 8 hours of sleep before an exam over a late-night cram session. A rested mind will always outperform an exhausted, panicked one.), eat a variety of nutritious food, stay away from energy drinks and remove distractions when studying. Study smarter, not longer.
To our parents - How to partner in their success
As parents, it can be incredibly tough to watch your child experience exam stress. You might feel helpless, but your role right now is more important than ever. You don’t need to know the curriculum to be their biggest asset. Here is how you can best support them over the coming weeks:
Lighten the Cognitive Load. When the brain is hyper-focused on studying, small daily tasks can feel overwhelming. Consider temporarily reducing chores or helping them keep their study space organised. Ensure they have nutritious snacks and plenty of water on hand.
Focus on Effort, Not Just Outcomes. Anxiety thrives when students feel their entire future hinges on a single grade. Remind them that you are proud of their hard work and resilience, regardless of the number at the top of the page.
Be the "Calm" in Their Storm. Stress is contagious, but so is calm. If they are panicking, be the grounded, reassuring voice that reminds them to take a break, go for a walk, or step away from the desk for a moment.
Keep an eye out for signs of burnout or excessive anxiety, such as: changes in eating or sleeping habits, increased irritability or sudden withdrawal or expressions of hopelessness ("I'm going to fail anyway"). If you notice these signs, encourage them to reach out to their teacher or house coordinator so we can support them.
"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." — B.B. King
Below is a document outlining the additional study sessions being run during the school holidays and leading into the exams. All students are encouraged to attend as many of these sessions as possible. (The Trial exam timetable is also in this document).
Trial preparation - July School Holidays 2026
We wish all of our Year 12 students the best of luck for these exams.

Farwell letter for Jenny Neilsen
This year marks Jenny Neilsen's 50th year of service to Red Bend Catholic College. Since commencing in 1977, Jenny has been a constant source of knowledge, care and unwavering commitment to generations of students, families and staff.
A great deal has changed at Red Bend over the past five decades, yet Jenny has remained a reassuring and familiar presence throughout it all. Her extraordinary knowledge of our boarding families, transport routes and timetables, the many small towns across regional New South Wales, and the countless day-to-day workings of the College has been nothing short of remarkable. She has been the person so many of us have relied upon, often before we even realised we needed her help.
As Director of Boarding, I would personally like to thank Jenny for the incredible support she has given me since I commenced in this role. She went above and beyond to help me settle into the position, always generously sharing her knowledge, wisdom and experience. Long before this appointment, I also had the privilege of working alongside Jenny in other areas of the College for many years, and I have always appreciated her kindness, professionalism and willingness to help others, particularly the Boarders.
Jenny's contribution extends far beyond the tasks of her role. She has built lasting relationships with families across our Boarding community and has represented the very best of Red Bend through her compassion, commitment and genuine care for others. In particular, Jenny has been such a great support for our First Nations Boarders over the years.
Jenny, on behalf of our boarding students, parents, carers, staff, past and present families, and the wider Forbes community, thank you for your extraordinary service and dedication to Red Bend Catholic College. We wish you every blessing as you begin your well-earned retirement. I know how much you enjoy travelling, and I am delighted that you can now devote more time to exploring the world and, for once, putting yourself first.
Jenny, thank you for everything you have done for Boarding. We wish you every happiness in the years ahead. Jenny will finish at the end of this week.
Student Drivers
Requirements for student drivers are outlined on page 27 of the Student Handbook, and the necessary Driver and Passenger Permission forms are available on the College website.
Students who drive to the College are required to be on site by 8.45am and must hand their car keys in to the Student Services Office (SSO) upon arrival. Keys can be collected from the SSO after 3.40pm.
For the safety of all members of our community, vehicles must be driven slowly and with care at all times while on College grounds. Students are required to remain behind school buses and must not overtake.
Driving to the College is a privilege, and we appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring that students meet these expectations.
Chewing Gum
Chewing gum has become an ongoing issue at the College. As a result, we have implemented the following consequences: any student found chewing gum will receive a Friday lunchtime detention. If a student is found with gum again, they will be issued a Tuesday afternoon detention.
This was communicated to students during the Week 9 assembly.
We ask that parents support us by ensuring that their child/ren do not bring chewing gum to the College. Thank you for your continued support in this matter.
Student Support
If at any time you have concerns regarding your child in relation to their time at the College please reach out to their relevant House Coordinator. House Coordinator emails are in your child's handbook along with Faculty Coordinators and my email. We much rather take a proactive approach to supporting our students.

McAuley House
It has been a privilege to begin my role as House Coordinator for McAuley House. I would like to sincerely thank the students for their warm welcome and patience as I settle into the position and learn the ropes.
I have been highly impressed by the way McAuley students embrace opportunities to participate in all aspects of school life. Their enthusiasm, commitment, and school spirit are evident across a wide range of activities, and they are to be commended for their positive involvement.
Most importantly, the students of McAuley House play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and happy environment. Through their kindness, respect, and willingness to look out for one another, they contribute to a strong sense of belonging within the House. This positive culture is strongly supported by our hard-working Pastoral Care teachers, whose ongoing guidance and care help nurture student wellbeing. I look forward to continuing to encourage and empower students to take ownership of this environment as we build on it together.
McAuley students continue to be recognised for their outstanding contributions across a wide range of areas. This includes achievements such as Champagnat Medals, ACE Awards, and Age Champion titles at the athletics carnival. Many students are also actively involved in co-curricular pursuits, representing the school in rugby league, netball, and equestrian events (to name but a few). The depth of talent within the House is further showcased through student involvement in the school musical, Annie Jr., with many performing on stage while others contribute behind the scenes. It is also pleasing to see the strong House spirit and excellent attendance demonstrated at school carnivals, reflecting a positive and engaged student community.
As we approach the halfway point of the year, our Year 12 students are drawing ever closer to the conclusion of their journey at Red Bend. I encourage all McAuley students to take the time to connect with their Year 12 peers and cherish the opportunities to learn from and share in their final months at the College. Red Bend is a truly special place, and it is the people within it who make it so. The students of McAuley House play an important role in creating a strong sense of family, contributing to the supportive and connected community that makes our House such a valued part of Red Bend.
Annie Jr Musical
On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of June, 45 students from Years 7-12 performed and took part in the Red Bend production of Annie Jr the Musical.
With over 500 tickets sold, the production was a huge success. Students of both the cast and crew made exceptional efforts in contributing to a smooth-running and entertaining show. A huge thanks must also go to the staff who contributed countless hours and expertise. Without them, the production would not have been possible. Below is a list of cast, and an assortment of photos from the production.
Year 10 Careers Development Days
On Thursday 18 June and Friday 19 June, our Year 10 students participated in two engaging Careers Development Days designed to help them explore future career opportunities and make informed decisions about their HSC subject selections.
Thursday saw students rotate through a series of interactive workshops including Hospitality, Horticulture/Agriculture, Health & Fitness, Finance 101, and an exciting Virtual Reality Career Exploration experience facilitated by MindFlight. These hands-on sessions encouraged students to consider the wide range of career pathways available to them and how these pathways connect with subjects offered at Red Bend Catholic College for their senior years.
On Friday, students had the opportunity to hear from a range of guest speakers who shared their unique career journeys, highlighting the many different pathways that can lead to fulfilling careers. Students also completed self-reflection activities, career suitability assessments, and created vision boards to help identify their interests, strengths, goals, and aspirations for the future.
A special thank you goes to Parkes News & Gifts and News On Rankin for their generous donation of magazines and newspapers, which provided the inspiration and resources for our students' vision boards. Your support was greatly appreciated.
A big thank you also, to Kate and Dimity from Macrocarpa Landscapes for facilitating the Horticulture workshops via the Next Gen Nature Program funded by Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, supported by Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal. Your passion and knowledge was inspiring.
These two days provided valuable opportunities for students to develop a greater understanding of themselves, explore the world of work and begin planning with confidence for their future education and career pathways.
Our Year 10 students will continue building on this experience during the next Careers Development Days on Thursday 3 September and Friday 4 September, before putting their learning into practice during Work Experience from Monday 14 September to Friday 18 September. These upcoming opportunities will allow students to further explore career options, develop workplace skills and gain valuable firsthand experience in industries of interest.
St Vincent de Paul Youth Conference Commissioning
The 2026 St Vincent de Paul Youth Conference Commissioning, led by Father Harry, was held on Monday the 29th of June. Students were presented with Membership Certificates and badges by Jess Easthope, Vinnies Schools and Youth Engagement Officer and Mr Jim Rogers, outgoing SVDP Wilcannia Forbes Central Council President. We were thrilled to also be joined by Mrs Rhonda Keane, the incoming Wilcannia Forbes Central Council President; Kelly Morgan Regional Director West and local Conference members Mrs Val Maunder and Mrs Barbara Brook.
Our RBCC Youth Conference has now grown to 50 members with students from Years 7 to 12 participating in a range of fundraising and service activities. The focus for Term 2 has been a Winter Collection Clothing Drive with 109 bags of donations being collected and distributed between the Forbes and Parkes Vinnies retail outlets. Our weekly Lolly Shop has been very popular enabling the team to raise enough money to support four students through the Vinnies “Assist a Student” program.
It is wonderful to see the Youth Conference continuing to grow and engage in good works. As we celebrate 100 years of Marist education in Forbes, we also reflect on 91 years of Vincentian tradition and service in our school. The first Vinnies group commenced with Principal Br. Avellino Power in 1935 with some past students still volunteering in local Conferences today. We are proud that our current students continue to embrace Vincentian service and walk in the steps of those that came before them.
Mrs Janice Little, RBCC Vinnies Coordinator
Year 9 iSTEM Tiny Homes Project
This term, Year 9 iSTEM students have been exploring the exciting world of Tiny Homes, combining creativity, problem-solving, and engineering design to develop innovative housing solutions.
Throughout the term, students investigated the concept of tiny homes and examined how these compact living spaces can provide sustainable, affordable, and efficient housing options. They considered important design factors such as functionality, space efficiency, sustainability, and the needs of different users.
Using the engineering design process, students worked to develop their own tiny home concepts. They began by planning and designing detailed floor plans using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, carefully considering how to maximise space while maintaining practicality and comfort.
Students then transformed their digital designs into physical prototypes by using 3D printing technology to create scale models of their tiny homes. This process allowed them to see their ideas come to life and provided valuable opportunities to evaluate and refine their designs.
The project challenged students to think critically, work creatively, and apply STEM skills in a real-world context. It was fantastic to see the innovation, problem-solving, and persistence demonstrated by students throughout the design process.

On Wednesday 17 June, the Year 9 History students travelled to Cowra as part of their study of Australians at War. Throughout the day, students visited a number of important sites connected to the Prisoner of War camp and the Cowra Breakout during World War II.
Our first stop was the former Prisoner of War camp, where military personnel and civilians from countries including Japan, Italy, Indonesia and a number of other nations were held during the war. Students listened to a recording explaining the events of the Cowra Breakout before exploring the site, which still has remains of the original camp and a range of informative displays.
The students then visited the Cowra War Cemetery, where many of the Japanese prisoners who died during the breakout are buried, along with several Australian soldiers.
Next, we visited the Australian World Peace Bell, which was gifted to Cowra by Japan in 1992 as a symbol of peace and the strong friendship that has developed between Cowra and Japan since the end of World War II.
Our final stop was the Cowra Visitor Information Centre, where students watched a hologram presentation about the Cowra Breakout and learned more about its significance.
It was a great day, with students showing a high level of interest and engagement at each location. They represented the school well and gained a deeper understanding of this important part of Australia's wartime history.
Year 12 Modern and Ancient History HSC Study Days
Year 12 Modern and Ancient History students spent two enriching days at the University of Sydney attending the HSC History Study Days, where they participated in a series of expert-led sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of key syllabus concepts. Students engaged with historians, explored new perspectives, and refined their analytical and writing skills in preparation for their upcoming examinations. The atmosphere was lively and positive, with students enjoying the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and deepen their confidence in both Modern History and Ancient History.
After Thursday’s lectures, both groups visited the Chau Chak Wing Museum, where they explored a wide range of exhibitions, including artefacts from the renowned Nicholson Collection. Students were able to connect their classroom learning with real-world historical evidence, discovering ancient and contemporary cultures through artworks, objects and archaeological material. It was a highly valuable and enjoyable experience, leaving students inspired, informed and well-prepared for the HSC.
Year 12 Business Studies and Geography
On Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June the Year 12 Business Studies and Geography students accompanied by Mrs Morrison, Mrs McMillan and Mr Ryan headed to Sydney to visit a number of sites around the Sydney CBD so students could gain a better understanding of some of the major case studies they have been learning about.
On the Thursday we visited Urban Green which is an environmentally sustainable vertical farm located in a disused car park in Barangaroo. Urban Green supplies high end restaurants in Sydney with micro greens that are all packaged in cardboard and delivered on e bikes throughout the city. Next we went on a walking tour of Darling Harbour and Barangaroo. Guided by Mrs McMillan we walked around the foreshore to Walsh Bay looking at urban renewal and development in the area.
After a big day we ventured down to Circular Quay for dinner and enjoyed the nice views around the harbour. Friday started with a walk around the Opera House, then we took a Ferry ride to Luna Park where we enjoyed a day of rides and adventure. We focused on the operations and safety procedures that were in place at Luna Park and also how they promote and market the business to the public. Overall it was a great trip and all had a lot of fun.
