Requirements for a Work Permit
Students must have a GPA of at least a 2.0 (C average).
Students will receive a B1-1 Form when they have been hired. Not while looking for a job or for an interview.
If a student shares that the hiring manager is requesting the form for an interview, counselors can call the hiring manager to clarify the work permit process at EHSF.
If a student is on track with credits but currently has Ds, a discussion with caregiver and student can be held to see if working during high school is a good fit.
If a student has at least a 2.0 and is in Tier 1 or 2 in regards to missing credits, a student may be issued a work permit, but a discussion still needs to be had with caregiver and student beforehand.
A student currently working cannot have Fs.
A student has 15 days to make up grades prior to having their permit revoked. The 15 days start from the day caregiver, student, admin, and counselor meet to discuss grades.
If a student still has failing grades, a meeting must be held to revoke work permit and/or appeal.
Counselor can also call employer to let them know that the work permit has been revoked by EHSF.
