All courses listed below offer both a Junior (Jr) and a Senior (Sr) session, except as noted.
Juniors: Students entering grades 1-3
Seniors: Students entering grades 4-7.
Spark Squad: Students entering grade 7 may optionally earn service credit with leadership experience if they'd like to help out 4th grade campers in their sessions.
Exceptions:
Warm Welcome courses are grade specific (K, 4 or 6).
Run & Games is Senior only. We encourage beginners, as well as current and interested Cross Country Team members to join.
Drop & Play is not offered for students at WHS or TBS.
Students in Grades 1-7 may enroll in Drop & Play on a weekly basis. Students will have supervised, unstructured time from 8:30 - 9:00 at HBS to play on the playground or play indoor games, read, relax with friends or enjoy their breakfast brought from home. Students attending Middle School Mingle in the morning will be escorted to RMS for their class.
Enjoy a variety of Arts & Crafts activities both group led and individually selected by interest. Each week has a central theme, and activities will vary between all sessions. Students will work with a variety of mediums and will have teacher selected as well as free choice activities.
Measure, mix, cook, bake and/or decorate a variety of treats in the kitchen. Snacks, desserts, simple meals. Junior Creators will focus more on non-baked treats, while our older Culinary Creators will focus more on baked & cooked items and use small countertop appliances and the oven. We will try some tiny foods, pizzas, cookies and cake. Perhaps some waffles, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and more! Students will have plenty of treats to bring home and share!
Enjoy a broad range of STEM-based activities based on teacher choice and student selection. There are a variety of group and individual tasks, teacher-led and free choice activities. Team challenges, engineering explorations, science experiments, designing, building with Legos and K'nex, simple robotics, programmable cars, coding and more. Students will have plenty of options and independence to create and explore.
By nature, children love to get outside and run around! Mr Tipton will capitalize on this as he leads students in morning stretching, followed by a mid-morning run and some team games. Participants will experience the joy of running and the camaraderie of doing so with their peers. This is a great introduction to cross country running. There are no experience or fitness requirements needed to enjoy this class. Weather permitting, the session will be outside. Otherwise, the indoor gymnasium will be used.
Join Mr Tipton for a week of fun - singing and performing Disney tunes. We plan to separate this group by grade - with our younger "Junior" Stage Stars meeting in the afternoon, and our "Senior" (Grades 4-6) Stars meeting in the morning. Each group will have a unique collection of songs to learn and perform. This week will conclude with a performance by both groups.
Kindergarten Kickoff will delight our incoming K students with its 2 day program at each school designed to acclimate you to your school, new grade level routines and expectations, as well as engage you in a number of playful activities including outside play. This is a 2-day course.
Bobcat Beginnings - A Warm Welcome is just for you as you enter HBS for the first time. A single day session will get you acclimated and help you make new friends in your new environment. This is a 1-day course.
Middle School Mingle - New to RMS as a 6th grader or new to the district 7th? This is where you'll want to start! Learn your way around, meet some teachers, play with lockers, and understand the schedule. You'll do a number of group activities geared toward making friends and having fun. This is a 4-day course.
