Grades at RMS run on a point-based system, so each student's grade is determined by dividing the points earned by the points available.
I grade all assignments with partial credit! I want my students to receive as many points as they've shown they deserve.
Unfortunately, mathematics teachers are not permitted to give extra credit.
Assignment point values depend on the length of a unit, but usually fall in the following range:
Tests ~50-100 pts
Quizzes ~25-45pts
HW - 2pts (1pt if handed in late or if incomplete)
iReady - 2pt per week (must work for 15 minutes each day we work in class)
HW is posted in Genesis & Google Classroom the day it is assigned, and is due the next time our class meets.
Quizzes are announced about 3 days in advance.
Tests are announces about a week in advance (depending on the length of the unit).
iReady is worked on for 30-45 minutes a week in class and students are expected to meet a minimum of 30 minutes in the program. This allows for students to work with the teacher in small groups, ask questions, etc.
