ESL instruction in class is always geared to the students' English proficiency levels and is designed to best meet the students' individual needs.
ESL classes and lessons enhance students' English learning at their specific proficiency and skill level. Lessons and focus of instruction depend upon the students' English language proficiency. We believe that all aspects of language learning are important in gaining English proficiency. These include listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Language is also learned through content, and other classroom skills are incorporated into the ESL lessons so that students have an opportunity to practice and strengthen those skills or ask questions as needed. Students are in a comfortable, smaller learning environment where they are able to ask questions, seek clarification, and be challenged in their language learning process.
English practice is the best way to reinforce English learning in school. Speaking some English at home, watching some television programs, listening to the radio in English, reading books in English, journal writing, etc. are all good reinforcers for English language learning. There are also many apps that promote English language learning that can be used on cell phones, tablets, IPads, etc. The most important thing is that English is practiced! As the old adage says, "Practice makes perfect!".
