Agendas

I will be sending agendas home daily to let you know about the important things that are happening in our classroom. Please read every day and return.

Home-Reading

Encourage your child, as I encourage them, to read daily at home. Reading every night it's the most important thing you can do to help your child succeed in school.

The students will have access onto RAZ kids this year, and Boukili

I encourage the students to read the books as many times as possible. The reading goals for this year is 15 to 30 minutes each day. Red Deer Public Library also has a good selection of French books.

Library Books

Every week, your child is allowed to take out 1 books from the school library.  Students are responsible for taking care of the book and ensuring it gets returned the following week. If a book is not return or does get lost or damaged, our library will send home a letter letting you know the replacement cost of the book and students will not be allowed to take out new books until the book is found, or the lost-book fee is paid.

French/Behavior

As a French immersion class, I expect that every student will make the best effort possible to speak French during class, in the hallways, and during lunch. Speaking French in class and with friends and teachers is how they improve their fluency, vocabulary and overall confidence with the language.

Also, we are consistently encouraging the students to use respectful behaviour towards themselves and others, whether it is in the classroom, on the playground, in the library or in the gym.

Snacks and Lunches

Brain food for healthy kids! Please take into consideration packing healthy choices for your child to eat at school. These keep kid's tummies full, which allows their brains to stay focused. A big healthy breakfast is also essential, as well as ensuring they get a good night's sleep. Also, notice that we are a peanut-free school.

N.B. Students do not have access to microwaves.

Hot Lunches

You can place hot lunch orders online by visiting http://www.healthyhunger.ca and following the registration steps.

Celebrity Spotlight

Please find your child’s name listed below for their special VIP week(Ami Spécial). Some weeks are 3-day weeks, which means we will not have a Celebrity Spotlight for that week

Parents Contact List

We always struggle with an alternative way to invite friends to a party/playdate, so we encourage you to allow us to share your contact information. I will be sending out a Google doc, or you can click on the link below, then you could sign up or give permission for your phone/cell number and email address to be placed on a list so that birthday parties and play dates can be arranged away from the school.
