In Our Classroom

In our classroom we believe in working as a community. We are going to work together in our classroom to make our classroom community, school community and local community stronger together.

Part of working within community will be holding responsibilities in our community. Each student will have a classroom job that they will be assigned to do every day.

Students are expected to come to class ready to learn and work together.

Zones of Regulation

In our class we will be using the Zones of Regulation. This is a set of skills the students will be learning and practicing over the course of the year to better self regulate themselves and their actions.

There are four zones, the Blue Zone, Green Zone, Yellow Zone and Red Zone.

We think of the four zones like four different traffic signals. When given a green light or in the Green Zone one is 'good to go'. A yellow sign means slow down or take caution, which applies to the Yellow Zone. A red light or stop sign means stop, and when one is in the Red Zone, this is the case. The Blue Zone can be compared to the rest area sign where someone goes when they need to recharge.
