Class Info

Welcome to 2E

I am looking forward to an exciting new year working with your child.

Entry Door

Our class will be using the east doors to enter and exit the school. If you are dropping your child off in the morning, please help them line up at the doors. Help teach your little one to walk around the parking lot to get to the playgrounds.

Home-Reading

Encourage your child, as I encourage them, to read daily at home. Reading every night it's the most important thing you can do to help your child succeed in school. The students will have access onto RAZ kids this year. Please refer to your kid's Google Classroom for more information about how to navigate through RAZ kids. I encourage the students to read the books as many times as possible. The reading goals for this year is 15 to 30 minutes each day. Red Deer Public Library also has a good selection of French books.

Library Books

Every week, your child is allowed to take out 2 books from the school library (1 English/ 1 French). Students are responsible for taking care of the book and ensuring it gets returned the following week. If book is not return or does get lost or damaged, our library will send home a letter letting you know the replacement cost of the book and students will not be allowed to take out new books until the book is found, or the lost-book fee is paid.

Parent-Teacher Communication:

Feel free to send an email or write in your child's agenda if you have any questions/concerns or information that we need to know about. We will respond to you within 24 hours during the school week. Emails after 6 pm will be replied to the following morning.

Water Bottles

Your child is encouraged to bring a water bottle to school as we believe that drinking water throughout the day helps us not only stay hydrated but also makes us better learners. Please keep in mind while choosing your child’s water bottle that it will be kept on your child’s desk and that they will be permitted to refill it throughout the day. Please ensure that it is clearly labeled so that we can send it home to be washed.

Birthdays

When it is your little one’s birthday, you are welcome to send a Birthday treat to school with them if you would like to do so.

Morning Snack & Lunch

Just a reminder to pack everything that your child will be needing for lunch and snack, such as a spoon, straws, etc. as we do not have any of these items available to give out. You might find that it's handy for your child if you pack their morning snack in a different compartment than the rest of their lunch so they know which item their snack is. A big thank you for always ensuring your child’s lunch is nut-free.
