EL Literacy - Levels I & II (9-12)

This course is for students who are new to learning the English language. The focus is on speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. Students will learn English vocabulary and basic grammar skills in a language rich environment.
EL Level 2 I & II (9-12)

Students are introduced to the language and concepts of literature and grammar. They develop academic language skills; reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students develop academic language skills in preparation for co-taught and core content courses.
EL Pre-Algebra I & II (9-12)

Students develop the foundational skills needed to be successful in HS Algebra and Geometry. This year long course places a strong emphasis on the continued study of integers, order of operations, variables, expressions, and equations. Students will solve and graph equations and inequalities, and explore geometry, statistics, and graph concepts.
EL Guided Study I & II (9-12)

Students are supported as they learn and apply organization and study skills. They participate in collaborative learning, and develop routines related to learning and academic success.
ELL Government

ELL Government is a one semester social studies course geared towards ELL Level 2 students and more advanced Level 1 students. Units of study are based on the Minnesota State Social Studies Standards. Topics include different forms of government, government systems, the foundations of the U.S. government and The Constitution. This course satisfies one of the seven social studies credits required for graduation.
ELL Geography

ELL Geography is an introductory social studies course for Level 1 and 2 English language learners. Units of study are based on the Minnesota State Social Studies Standards. Students study topics such as human migration, population growth, consumption patterns in the United States, and land use conflict in the Amazon basin. This course satisfies one of the seven social studies credits required for graduation.
ELL Literacy Development I & II

The EL literacy class is designed to help students increase fluency in English. We focus on phonemic awareness and engagement in activities that help students with letter identification, letter sounds, blended sounds, and word manipulation. The goal is to help students decode words so they can work towards fluency, and gain meaning from a variety of texts.
ELL Economics

ELL Economics is a one semester social studies course geared towards ELL Level 2 students and some advanced Level 1 students. Units of study are based on the Minnesota State Social Studies Standards. Topics include basic economic concepts such as scarcity, economic systems, how markets work, business, and money management. This course satisfies one of the seven social studies credits required for graduation.
EL Language Arts I & II

EL Language Arts is a year-long course that focuses on reading fluency, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and literary analysis. Additionally, students develop their writing skills through the application of grammar, sentence composition, summary writing, and analytic writing at the sentence, paragraph, and essay levels. This full-year course fulfills two required English credits for graduation.
