Reading: This week we are learning about closed syllables. There are six types of syllables in our language. In a closed syllable, there is one vowel followed by one or more consonants. The vowel makes it's short sound. We are also learning about compound subjects and predicates in a sentence, and using ck at the end of a 1 syllable word after a short vowel. This week, we begin learning about an open syllable. In an open syllable, the vowel in not followed by a consonant. It is free to "run away" and say it's name like in the words no and be. We will also learn about plural nouns. We continue to learn the fszl rule for closed syllables. We will begin to learn about digraphs.

Math: This week we are learning about concepts of subtraction. We will be focusing on the following vocabulary words: difference, subtraction number sentence, take away, minus, and zero. We begin working on vertical subtraction number sentences.

Religion: We continue to learn about how God is our good Father. God has made all that is good.

Science/Social Studies: We continue to read and learn about the life cycle of pumpkins.
