English II Honors

For those who may be new to the honors classroom, Honors English II is a step above its regular, college preparatory counterpart. In the honors classroom, the teacher is expected to teach the general course curriculum with increased rigor while holding students to much higher expectations. To earn the highest marks in this course, students must perform at an exemplary level.

The honors classroom is specifically designed to challenge students and promote growth. Throughout the semester, I will push students to improve their analytical reading skills, hone their writing skills, increase their vocabulary, and develop effective discussion tactics in order to prepare them well for the next step in their English journey and beyond.

All homework assigned in this course is fundamental to our daily class discussions and activities. A reading assignment involves much more than simply reading the text. Honors students are expected to analyze each text and make annotations that will aid them in their class discussions. We will practice annotation techniques throughout the semester, and students will receive feedback on how to improve their work. It is imperative that students take the time to read for analysis and complete all assignments with their best effort.

With much respect,

Mrs. Marla Morgan
