Online Grades

PowerSchool Online Grades- A letter will be sent home at the beginning of the year giving instructions on how to log in. There is also a powerschool app so you can check grades using the app once you have set up the login and password using a computer. If you do not have the instructions, please contact the office to get the printout.

Formative vs. Summative Grades:

• Formative grades- where students learn and practice the material. The purpose of these assignments are to show progress toward academic behaviors (turning work in on time, following instructions, completing assignments, etc). You will see formative grades in the gradebook, however they are worth 0% of the overall grade. Theses scores will be used to evaluate academic behaviors (Engagement/Work Completion/Utilizes Feedback and Resources) that are included on progress reports and the report card. Although these assignments are not part of the overall grade, they are vital in mastering content standards.
• Summative grades- where students show that they know the content, or can perform the skill (can be tests, quizzes, essays, projects, presentations, etc). Summative grades are worth 100% of the overall grade.
