5/19 - 5/23 FIELD DAY, FIELD TRIPS, AND FUN
This was our last full week of school and one of our most exciting weeks this year. The week started out with our Graduate Walk, it was incredible to see so many former Trailblazers come back to campus one last time before graduating from high school. Every grade level was able to participate in our school-wide field day last Wednesday. From tug-of-war to musical spots, there was a wide variety of activities for all to enjoy. Our 4th grade students had an exciting field trip this Friday to Marshall Gold and multiple 3rd grade classrooms had field trips to the park. On campus there were multiple assemblies and celebrations including a STEAM assembly for 5th grade students and a Spring Sing performance with 1st grade students. Next week will be our last week for school for the 2024-2025 school year, go Trailblazers!

THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE AND STAYING HEALTHY!
As we move through the school year, we want to remind everyone of the importance of consistent school attendance. When students attend school every day they are well, they stay on track academically, build strong relationships, and develop important habits for success.
We understand that this time of year brings seasonal illnesses, and keeping our school community healthy is a shared effort. To help prevent the spread of illness, please encourage your child to:
✅ Wash hands frequently with soap and water
✅ Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow
✅ Eat nutritious foods and stay hydrated
✅ Get plenty of rest each night
✅ Stay home if they have a fever or are feeling unwell
If your child is healthy and able to attend, we encourage them to be in school every day! Consistent attendance makes a big difference in your child’s learning and growth.
To support families, our district provides resources to help with attendance, health, and well-being. Visit our Every Day Matters page for tips, support services, and information on why attendance matters.
Thank you for partnering with us to support student learning and a healthy school environment!

10/28 - 11/1 SHORT WEEK WITH LOTS OF SPIRIT
While this week was a short 3 days for our students, there was an incredible amount of excitement felt on campus. October 28th started off with a Rock Your School Assembly, introducing students to all of the fun scheduled for the week. Multiple rooms on campus were transformed for students to visit on campus leading up to our amazing Literacy night. It was so much fun to see our Trailblazers dressed up in band attire, fall colors, and rainforest outfits.
RCSD EVERY DAY MATTERS
As we welcome the fall and winter seasons, I want to re-emphasize the critical importance of maintaining good attendance. These upcoming months often bring various vacations and holiday celebrations, making it essential to plan ahead and ensure your child's education and attendance remain top priorities.
Our district-wide "Every Day Matters" Attendance Campaign and “Every Day Matters” website are designed to empower you with tips and support, as well as remind us all that regular school attendance is not just a routine requirement; it is a cornerstone of a child's academic success. Missing even just a day or two can have a significant impact on learning and overall progress.
How can you establish good attendance and health habits for your child?
Plan Ahead: Review the school calendar to identify important dates, such as holidays and school breaks. Try to schedule family vacations and activities during these times to minimize disruptions. Contact your child’s teacher if you can’t adjust travel arrangements outside of school days to explore a Short Term Independent Study option.
Set a Routine: Establish a consistent daily routine for your child that includes a healthy sleep schedule, a balanced diet, regular exercise, and ample time for homework and relaxation. Ensure your child comes to school healthy and ready to learn.
Communicate: Encourage open communication between you, your child, and the school. If your child is unwell or facing any challenges, let the school know as soon as possible.
Be a Role Model: Demonstrate the value of education and a healthy lifestyle by prioritizing punctuality, attendance, and well-being in your own life. Your child will learn from your example.
Celebrate Achievements: Recognize and celebrate your child's achievements and milestones in their academic journey. Positive reinforcement can motivate them to attend school regularly.
Remember, every day at school counts, and your support in fostering good attendance and health habits will have a lasting impact on your child's future success. If you ever have any questions or concerns related to attendance, health, or your child's education, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school staff.
PANCAKES WITH THE PRINCIPALS
On November 15th we have our first Pancakes with the Principals. Each classroom teacher will nominate two students who are consistently representing Leadership and Accountability as part of the L.E.A.D. Program at school. SECURE Drill Practiced on Thursday, October 17th
On Thursday 10/17/24 we practiced our secure drill. A secure is called when there is a threat or hazard outside the school campus. This could be if there is criminal activity in the immediate neighborhood or a dangerous animal nearby. The language used is “secure, get inside, lock doors.” The action requires bringing students and staff inside the building and ensuring doors are locked. Classroom activities can continue; however, no one is allowed in or out of the school at this time.
We practice drills to help build muscle memory in the event of a true emergency, and we practice in order for our school to identify gaps and areas of improvement.
For more information about our safety procedures, please check out the safety information on our district website.
Please reach out if you have any questions.

9/3 - 9/6 - MORE PBIS PASSPORTS!
While this week was a bit shorter there was still so much learning taking place here at Diamond Creek. On Friday our students were able to finish their PBIS Passports and learn more about the L.E.A.D. expectations all around campus. This year we had 5th grade student leaders help lead the conversation around all school expectations. What an amazing way to end our first week in September.
STOPit REMINDER
As a reminder, RCSD proudly offers STOPit, an anonymous reporting tool available at all 21 of our school sites. This platform empowers students and families to safely and anonymously report concerns to school officials, helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
While STOPit is a valuable tool for reporting serious concerns such as discrimination, vandalism, threats, or self-harm, it should not be used to report minor incidents or inappropriate activities that are best addressed by local law enforcement. For example, youth riding scooters in the neighborhood without helmets or similar behaviors should be reported directly to the local police department, as these are not school-related safety issues.
We ask that students and families use STOPit responsibly and for the intended purposes. Thank you for working with us to keep our community safe. Your partnership is essential in creating a positive and safe environment for all.

8/26 - 8/30 PBIS PASSPORTS AND BLAZER BUCKS
It's hard to believe that we are already transitioning into September. This week was filled with so much learning for all of our students. Every child was able to join their Village to learn more about our L.E.A.D. expectations around campus with PBIS Passports. The amazing work will continue into next week as students work to fill up their passports. This week we also held our second Blazer Bucks drawing. It was incredible to see how many Blazer Bucks students were able to earn in just a few short weeks. Go Trailblazers!
DROP OFF AND PICK UP SAFETY REMINDER
Just a reminder that all parents and students need to use sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks only. Safety is always our highest priority and we appreciate parents for modeling the correct and safe way to get around traffic.
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Attend School Every Day!
As part of RCSD’s ongoing commitment to student success, we want to remind everyone that attendance is important year-round. Our "Every Day Matters" Attendance Campaign emphasizes that being present at school every day and arriving on time are crucial for students to fully benefit from their education.
Did you know that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher grades, build stronger social skills, and develop a positive attitude toward learning? Consistent attendance sets a foundation for lifelong success.
Let’s work together to make every school day count. Reach out to us with any questions or ways we can support your family to ensure regular attendance. Your partnership is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support!

8/19 - 8/23 DIAMOND CREEK VILLAGES
One of the things that makes Diamond Creek such an amazing school is our Villages. Every student and staff member belongs to a Village, from our TK students to our classroom teachers. This week our new TK and kindergarten students discovered which Village they would be joining just in time for our first rally.
Our first Village Rally was centered around having a growth mindset. We shared that it's important to see that everyone has the ability to learn and grow, and your efforts and determination can make a difference in your abilities. It was incredible to see how many students were already familiar with having a growth mindset.
Thank you to all of our parents and who attended out first PTC meeting and Watch D.O.G.S. information night. There are so many exciting events coming up so please make sure to keep reading the blog for more information.
MOBILE DEVICE REMINDER
Beginning the first day of school, the Roseville City School District (RCSD) implemented a revised policy regarding student use of personal mobile devices. Students (grades TK-8) will not be allowed to use their phones or personal tablets or wear their smartwatches or Bluetooth headphones (such as AirPods) once they have entered campus for the instructional day. These items must be turned off and put away during the school day. They can resume using these devices only after the last period of the day. This change is based on research indicating that mobile devices can be a major source of distraction during school hours. We are attempting to increase the amount of time our classrooms have for teaching and learning by creating distraction-free classrooms and providing opportunities for our students to engage in technology-free social interactions during breaks and lunch time.
RCSD understands that this change may require some adjustments. To support our families, we have created a Family Information webpage (rcsdk8.org/digital-resources) with more details on the policy, the research behind it, and answers to frequently asked questions. We also look forward to sharing even more about our new partnership with SmartSocial, which offers programs that teach adults the essentials of social media, smartphones, internet usage, and how to work with students to stay safe online.
Thank you for your support in helping us provide a focused and productive learning environment for our students.

8/8 - 8/9
WELCOME BACK, TRAILBLAZER FAMILIES!
What an amazing first 2 days of school! It was so fun to see all of the kids and families as they walked on campus to ring in a new year! Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Campbell were able to visit classrooms as well as see students in action, enjoying all of the new playground equipment.
Thank you to all of the families who came out to our Back to School Night event! I would like to especially thank our PTC who passed out hundreds of pencils to students with a note for a positive message on the first day of school.
Just a reminder that starting Monday, August 12th we will ask that you say goodbye to your child at the front gates and have them walk with their classmates to their playgrounds where they will meet their teachers. The gates will open at 7:35 am and will close at 7:45 am. Students arriving after this time will check in through the office and head to class.
Parking Lot and Traffic Safety Reminders
With over 500 students, biking, riding the bus and arriving in cars, we appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our kids safe. Please be mindful of students crossing in the crosswalks. Also, if you are dropping off or picking up in the parking lots, please do not leave your car unless you are in a designated parking spot. If you are along the curb, please stay with your car at all times. Our Trailblazers thank you so much for your efforts to keep them safe.
When dropping off and picking up your students, please be mindful that we have many students walking and biking to school each day and our number one priority is to keep all of these students safe. Please drive slowly around Diamond Creek and remember these important steps.
Stay with your car unless you are parked in a designated parking space.
Do not get out of your car to wait with your child. If you need to park your car for any reason, please use a parking space or spot along the road.
Do not be on your cell phone while picking up or dropping off students.
Follow directions from crossing guard/student safety patrol personnel.
Be polite and considerate of others.
When using the Big Bus Loop for Drop Off/Pick Up:
If you drop off in the Kindergarten Loop:
REPORTING ABSENCES
There are multiple ways to report your student's absence and it is important that you report it to us as soon as possible. We wanted to highlight the different options:
1. Call - Diamond Creek Office - 916-771-1760
2. Email - diamondcreekattendance@rcsdk8.org
PARENT SQUARE
This year we have moved to using Parent Square! You are able to receive communication from Diamond Creek via the App in both the Google Play as well as the Apple Store. You do not need to download the App in order to use Parent Square, however it is highly recommended as it allows you to easily customize how you would like to receive information.
STOPit INFORMATION
We wanted to let you know that our school, and the entire district, will continue to utilize STOPit, an anonymous online reporting tool. For the families new to our school, STOPit is designed to deter vandalism, threats, violence, suicidal ideation and other behaviors, consisting of an app/online platform, and a back-end incident management system for school administrators.
Our families will have access to the STOPit mobile app and web-based reporting system, which have two simple but powerful features.
Specifically, the program educates students and families to:
Recognize the signs of at-risk behaviors
Take every sign and signal seriously
Report it anonymously through STOPit app, website or 24/7 Incident Response Center
Submit photo or video evidence
Alert designated administrators to issues and risks early, before they escalate
No personal information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a requester voluntarily includes it within the content of a request or message.
Both our school and STOPit are committed to protecting the privacy of student data. STOPit is a signatory to the Student Privacy Pledge, spearheaded by the Future of Privacy Forum and the Software & Information Industry Association. You may review STOPit’s Privacy Policy for details, including more information on how anonymous reporting works.
Students and families have the power to help put an end to harmful and inappropriate behavior they see online through social media and other means. They can use STOPit to reach out for help with the following:
Vandalism
Weapons
Threat or planned attack
Hate crime/discrimination
Cutting/self-harm
Domestic violence
Assault
Suicidal ideation
Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.
We encourage you to download the STOPit app and search for our school using the directory or report online via our website by clicking on the STOPit icon at the top of the homepage. You can privately ask for help for your student, family, others you care about, or even acquaintances who appear to need help.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Together, we can make sure everyone in our community is healthy, happy and able to learn and thrive. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our schools safe and healthy.
Lisa Phillips, Principal
Bev Campbell, Assistant Principal
