Message from the Principals

We had another great week here at Diamond Creek!  We can't believe it will be May already!  This past week, a fourth grade class went to Blue Line Art Gallery for a field trip.  A couple of 2nd grade classes had a field trip to the Woodcreek Nature Center on Monday.  Our 1st grade classes went on a field trip to the Roseville Theater on Wednesday and Thursday.  We finished the week off with our 3rd Pancakes with the Principals on Friday!  Thank you, PTC and families for all your help donating food, supplies, and volunteer hours to make this a great event to celebrate our students.  We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Message from Mr. Field

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the warm welcome and incredible support I have received throughout this past school year. Serving as your assistant principal has been an absolute privilege, and I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of such a vibrant and dedicated community. The passion and commitment demonstrated by our students, staff, and families have truly made this year unforgettable.

I want to let you all know that I will not be returning to Diamond Creek next school year as I have accepted another job within education.  While I may be leaving, the memories and lessons learned will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this incredible journey. Wishing you all continued success and growth in the future. Go Trailblazers!

MAKE-A-WISH FUNDRAISER UPDATE

We are immensely grateful to all the families at Diamond Creek Elementary for their incredible support in helping us raise over $10,000 for our Make-A-Wish Fundraiser!! Your generous contributions have brought us closer to granting wishes and spreading joy to children in need. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, students will get to see Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Field transformed into human pizzas at our village rally on Friday, May 3rd. Thank you for making a difference and showing what our community can achieve together!

ART DOCENT UPDATE

This year students have had the opportunity to be exposed to even more art as we continue the district art program run by parent volunteers. For many students, learning about and then working on their art project is a highlight to their school experience!

Just like last year, our art show will be held the same night as open house. Mark your calendars for May 16th and come prepared to see a piece of work from your child. Please take a moment and ask your student what their experience has been like this past year with art. Do they have a favorite project? Do they have a project they really didn't like? It's so fun to get their responses. Art can be a frustrating experience for some kids...while others love it!  But no matter their individual personality and views on art, students learn how to create, explore different artistic mediums, and gain exposure that will make them more well-rounded contributors to the world. That's all pretty great!

Thank you to our art docents and teachers who have supported this program!

(In this picture, we see two students from Mrs. Lopez's 5th grade class creating works of Art using pointillism.)

MAKE-A-WISH FUNDRAISER EXTENDED THROUGH 4/26/24

We are so close to making a child's wish come true.  Can you help us meet our goal of raising $10,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation?  Right now we have raised almost $8,000 and if we get to $10,000 two amazing things will happen...most importantly our school will be able to grant a wish for a child that is part of the Make-a-Wish program!  The other thing that will happen if we make our goal is that we will have a Principal Pizza-palooza!  Our Principals, Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Field will be made into human pizzas in front of the whole school at our last LEAD rally on May 3rd!  That's right...flour, sauce, pepperoni, cheese, pineapple, mushrooms, etc...will be poured onto our principals!  The top TK-2nd and 3rd-5th grade classes will also earn a class party given by Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Field! Please help us make our goal by Friday, April 26th!

Message from the Principals

We are ready to GLOW and hope you are too! Thank you to the PTC for hosting the GLOW dance tonight!  We had a full week packed with learning, assemblies, and field trips! We launched our Make-A-Wish fundraiser with an assembly on Monday!  The highest classes in TK-2nd and 3-5th grades will win a CLASS PARTY given by the Principals!  Also if we reach our school-wide goal of $10,000 Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Field will be turned into human pizzas at our LEAD Assembly on May 3rd!  Kids have been adding topping ideas all week (mushrooms, pineapple, pepperoni, flour, sauce, oh my!) We even said that we would add Anchovies if we make it to $15,000!  On Tuesday, our 5th graders traveled to San Francisco to the Academy of Sciences.  Our 2nd graders had an assembly on Friday with musician Phil Tulga (thank you PTC!) and our TK students traveled to the Roseville Utility Center on Friday for their first field trip!  Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Message from the Principals

They say April showers bring May flowers so we are excited to see all those flowers next month!  We want to welcome everyone back from Spring Break and we hope it was a time of relaxation and some fun!  With only 8 more weeks left of school, our Trailblazers are working hard to finish the school year strong.  Our Make-a-Wish fundraiser starts next week and as a school site we are hoping to raise $10,000 to grant a wish.  Thank you for your support and we hope everyone has a great weekend!

ECLIPSE MESSAGE

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing. Our students will be in school during this event, and our educators will take full advantage of this to make it a learning experience for our students.

NASA-approved safety glasses have been ordered for students, and all teachers will work with them to ensure the safe viewing of the eclipse during the event.

Please make sure to tell your child not to look directly at the sun during this event, or attempt to observe the eclipse without adult supervision and guidance. They should closely follow teacher instructions during the eclipse, especially those involving eye and eyewear safety.

If you have questions about the activities that will be conducted at your child’s school or wish to have your student refrain from participating in these activities, please contact the school office and let them know.

We are attaching information provided by NASA to learn more about this event and how to participate safely.

ATTENDANCE REMINDER

As we enter the final months of the school year, I want to emphasize the critical importance of consistent attendance for your child's success. Every day of learning matters, and regular attendance is key to ensuring they finish the year strong. With just April and May remaining, it's essential to maintain momentum and maximize every opportunity for learning.

Attending school every single day is paramount for students' academic success and overall development. Here's why:

Overall, attending school every single day is crucial for students to maximize their potential, build essential skills, and lay the groundwork for a bright future. It is a collective responsibility shared by families, educators, and the community to prioritize and support regular attendance to ensure students' success.

If your child is facing any challenges that may impact their attendance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to support you and your child in any way we can. And don’t forget the resources available on our "Every Day Matters" website!

REQUESTING TEACHERS

Prior to the beginning of each school year, the staff at Diamond Creek spends a great deal of time and consideration in placing each student with a specific teacher and classmates for the new year. Care is taken to consider each child’s academic and emotional well being when making her/his classroom assignment. Class rosters are designed heterogeneously, with equity for all being the main goal. For these reasons, parent requests for specific teachers cannot be honored. Your trust and understanding are appreciated.

We wanted to make sure that families are aware that there is no before or after school supervision at Davis Park beyond the campus gate. We highly encourage all students to go directly home after school.  Thank you!

ANNUAL PARENT SURVEY-PLEASE COMPLETE BY 3/4/2024

It’s that time of year when our School Site Council would love your input to continue to improve our school’s effectiveness.  The survey will be available for the next two weeks.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete it.  Please respond to each statement based on your overall experience with our school.  If you have more than one child at Diamond Creek and the answers to these questions would change based on each child, please feel free to complete multiple surveys.  A composite of this survey will be shared with the School Site Council, but individual responses will be kept confidential. Please complete this survey-LINK HERE

ASSEMBLY INFORMATION

Diamond Creek is excited to welcome local author Jesse Bennett to our school on Friday, March 1st. Jesse's ideas for her books came from time spent with her own children.  She wanted to share the sweet simple values of kindness, love, gratitude, and being exactly who you are, unapologetically. She wanted her kids to be able to hold something special she created for them, that can be shared with other families and brought into their homes, too. HERE is a flyer about her upcoming visit. If your child would like to get a book signed please purchase it ahead of time on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or wherever else you can find her books!

Message from the Principals

As the leaves begin to fall and there is a chill in the air, we can feel what time of year it is.  Welcome to December!  We hope everyone had a restful break.  We were so excited to see all of our students back on campus learning, smiling, and having fun! Kindergarten students made gingerbread people, 2nd grade students were learning about the life cycle of salmon, and 4th grade students were making solar-powered cars with support from the Roseville Utility Center,

We had a village rally today where students learned about what it means to be "Disciplined."  This is part of our LEAD expectations of being a Listener, Empathetic, Accountable, and Disciplined.  The habits that we connect to being disciplined are "Habit 3: Make Priorities Matter" and "Habit 7: Find Your Balance."  Please talk to your student about what being disciplined means in your family.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for your support. You are truly making a difference!

Pancakes with the Principals

We had such a fun time celebrating these amazing students on the Friday before break.  Teachers and students within each class nominated two students that represent "Habit #1: I'M IN CHARGE OF ME" and "Habit #2: KNOW BEFORE YOU DO.  We are lucky to have such great Trailblazers!  Many thanks to our parent volunteers who donated supplies and your time to help make this event happen!  We look forward to celebrating with our students two more times this year!

Message from the Principals

We had so much fun celebrating some of our amazing students at our first "Pancakes with the Principals".  Teachers and students within each class nominated two students that represent "Habit #1: I'M IN CHARGE OF ME" and "Habit #2: KNOW BEFORE YOU DO.  These students were invited to the cafeteria on Friday to have Pancakes with the Principals.  We are lucky to have such great Trailblazers!

On that note, we wanted to express how thankful we are for the Diamond Creek community.  The families, students, and staff here are a true community and we are just so lucky to be a part of it.  We hope everyone has a restful break and we will see everyone on Monday, November 27th.

Message from the Principals

We had another great week here at Diamond Creek.  Monday and Tuesday were full of learning for our staff.  On Wednesday we welcomed November with sunshine and blue skies.  On Thursday we reached our first schoolwide village dojo points goal.  Our goal was 5,000 points!  Students earn points for their villages by demonstrating Diamond Creeks LEAD expectations of being a Listener, Empathetic, Accountable, and Disciplined.  As a school, we celebrated this awesome accomplishment by having an extra 10 minutes of recess on Friday during our Village time.

School Traffic Update

Traffic cones in the public right of way have to be set up and operated by registered traffic cone personnel who are certified and covered by insurance. This is for everyone’s protection, which is ultimately why the cones were removed from Hopscotch.

Steps being taken moving forward in working with the City involve additional signage for the crosswalk to make it more visible to drivers and potentially adding additional volunteer crossing guards from Student Safety Patrol and parent volunteers.

School Traffic Safety Tips

It's important to be aware of your surroundings while dropping off and picking up your kids. Here are some Safe Routes to School tips to remember whether you are walking, rolling or driving to school:

Drivers

-Slow down in school zones

-Stay off cell phones

-Avoid blocking crosswalks and remain alert for students walking or biking

Students

-Walk on sidewalks and use marked crosswalks

-Always wear a helmet when riding

-Make eye contact with drivers and always look left, right, then left again before crossing the street

Message from the Principals

It is starting to feel a little bit more like Fall🍂  Thank you so much to our amazing PTC for putting on the incredible Fall Festival!  We had a busy week here filled with a lot of activities including 3rd grade taking a field trip to Maidu, lunch in the quad on Friday, and PBIS recognition at the board meeting on Thursday (more info on this below).  We hope everyone enjoys all the fun activities that go along with the changing weather.

Have a great weekend!

PBIS Recognition

On Thursday, the RCSD Board of Education celebrated all of the district schools that earned PBIS recognition for the 22-23 school year.  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate.

Diamond Creek received the SILVER level of recognition which is a great accomplishment for our first year of implementing PBIS.  Thank you to our incredible PBIS team for all your hard work and effort!

Message from the Principals

Spirit weeks are so much fun here at Diamond Creek!  On Monday students and staff had their crazy hair flowing.  Tuesday we put on our western wear followed by wear one color Wednesday.  It was great seeing all the students wearing their sports gear on Thursday.  Then we all rocked out on Friday for Rock Your School!  Rock Your School is such a fantastic event.  Friday started with a village rally where students enjoyed a surprise teacher dance and visit from Blaze.  Then with their villages, students "Chalked Your School."  After that the students got to experience learning in fun "new" environments.  Rock Your School is all about making education fun and the Diamond Creek community came together to make that happen!  Thank you to all of the families that helped fulfill our Amazon wishlist.  We couldn't have made this event a success without you.  A BIG shout out to all the teachers and staff that took time out of their schedules to decorate our transformation rooms.  The students really enjoy their in the Maker Space, "Candyland, "Under the Sea," "Starbooks," and "Camping!"

Have a great weekend!

Fall grams are on sale!  A flyer went home last week (and is linked here). This is your chance to help your friends welcome fall with a leaf cutout and a fun fall pencil!  All grams are due Tuesday, October 3, and will be distributed on Friday, October 6th.

VISITORS ON CAMPUS

If you are visiting campus during school hours please be aware that it is required that you check-in and check-out with the front office.  This allows us to account for everyone on campus. When leaving campus during school hours, please check out through the office not through the Front Gate. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe.

Attendance

As we welcome the fall and winter seasons, I want to re-emphasize the critical importance of maintaining good attendance. These upcoming months often bring various vacations and holiday celebrations, making it essential to plan ahead and ensure your child's education and attendance remain top priorities.

Our district-wide "Every Day Matters" Attendance Campaign and “Every Day Matters” website are designed to empower you with tips and support, as well as remind us all that regular school attendance is not just a routine requirement; it is a cornerstone of a child's academic success. Missing even just a day or two can have a significant impact on learning and overall progress.

How can you establish good attendance and health habits for your child?

Remember, every day at school counts, and your support in fostering good attendance and health habits will have a lasting impact on your child's future success. If you ever have any questions or concerns related to attendance, health, or your child's education, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school staff.

Important Notice: Chromebook Care and Device Damage

Our school is reaching out today to address a concerning issue in our District since the beginning of the school year. Unfortunately, we have experienced significant damage to our student Chromebooks, with over 150 units requiring repairs or replacements.

While we understand that accidents can, and do, happen, we all must work together to ensure the longevity and functionality of these devices, as they are crucial tools for learning. To avoid further damage and inconvenience, we request your cooperation in taking better care of these devices.

Below are some important guidelines to share with your student to ensure the proper care of their Chromebook at school:

Our current rate of device damage is unsustainable. As a result, it may take longer to replace a damaged Chromebook as we work diligently to repair existing devices and secure additional loaners. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly request your patience during this time.

Remember that these devices are provided to all students to support and enhance learning, and we are committed to providing all with the tools they need for success. By following these guidelines and taking good care of all Chromebooks, we can minimize disruptions and ensure every student has access to a functional device.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We appreciate your understanding and dedication to preserving these valuable resources.

Enhancing Communication with the Google Translate Extension

At Diamond Creek Elementary we utilize Google Workspace for Education, an all-inclusive platform that provides a range of tools and applications designed to enhance the educational experience. To facilitate effective communication in multiple languages, we would like to offer the Google Translate extension.

If you have questions about what information is disclosed by using the Google Translate extension, please take a moment to review the extension Privacy Practices. If you prefer not to have the District activate the Google Translate extension for your student’s account, please follow the steps below on or before September 22, 2023.

If you need assistance with your login credentials, please contact your student's school office, and they will gladly assist you with logging in.

Care Solace

RCSD is committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment. In support of our ongoing commitment, I wanted to take time to remind you about our District’s partnership with Care Solace to provide an additional layer of care for our community.

Care Solace helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers. The Care Companion team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year to quickly connect you to carefully verified providers in your community.

Students, staff, and families may access Care Solace services in two ways:

Care Solace is available for use at no cost to you. They will connect you with providers accepting all medical insurances, including Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale options for those without insurance. All information entered on the Care Solace tool is confidential and securely stored.

Please note that this service is an optional resource available by choice and is not mandatory. Care Solace is not an emergency response service or mental health services provider.

In the event of a life threatening emergency, please call 911 or the National Suicide Hotline at 988. If there is an immediate need to connect to a trained crisis counselor, please call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org. 988 provides 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors that can help people experiencing mental health-related distress.

JOBS JOBS JOBS!

We want to make you aware of and encourage you to come and check out some fantastic opportunities we have at Roseville City School District to serve in multiple ways for our students.

Message from the Principals

We had such a fun time at our Village LEAD Kick Off Rally on Friday!  We got to hear the chants of each village, review LEAD, learn about growth mindset, village points, and the Trailblazer sticker design contest!  On Thursday the TK/K classes had their village sorting day and it was so fun seeing them rip open their bags to reveal which village they will be in through 5th grade.

As we end our second full week it is great seeing the students, staff, and families get back into the routine of school.  The hum of pencil sharpeners, kinder songs, and students playing at recess are all in full effect!

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

No Supervision at Davis Park

We wanted to make sure that families are aware that there is no before or after school supervision at Davis Park beyond the campus gate. We highly encourage all students to go directly home after school.  Thank you!

ANIMALS AT DROP OFF AND PICK UP

It is so fun to see our four-footed family members before and after school, but for the safety of our students due to possible pet allergies and the unpredictability of animals, please keep your pets on the sidewalk along the perimeter of the school.  Please do not allow students to pet your animal unless they have permission from a parent that is present.  Thank you for your efforts to help keep all of our Trailblazers safe.

Message from the Principals

We have officially finished our first full week back!  It has been great getting into classrooms and seeing our students building relationships with their peers and teachers.  Thank you to our wonderful PTC, the students are having a great time at recess with our new recess equipment.

This week we will have our TK/K Village sorting assembly where our new TK/K students will find out which Village they will be a part of.  We will also have our Village LEAD Kick Off Rally on Friday!

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Parking Lot and Traffic Safety Reminders

With almost 600 students walking, biking, riding the bus and arriving in cars, we appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our kids safe.  Please be mindful of students crossing in the crosswalks.  Also, if you are dropping off or picking up in the parking lots, please do not leave your car unless you are in a designated parking spot.  If you are along the curb, please stay with your car at all times.  Our Trailblazers thank you so much for your efforts to keep them safe.

Please talk to your students about bike and walking safety.  Please use the designated crosswalk areas to cross streets and parking lots.  Additionally, please make sure to walk bikes and scooters while on campus.  Thank you!

When dropping off and picking up your students, please be mindful that we have many students walking and biking to school each day and our number one priority is to keep all of these students safe. Please drive slowly around Diamond Creek and remember these important steps.

Attendance

As we embark on a new school year, we are delighted to announce the launch of the district-wide "Every Day Matters" Attendance Campaign, an initiative aimed at emphasizing the crucial role of regular school attendance in the academic success of our students.

We firmly believe that consistent attendance plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of each child. It lays the foundation for their growth, fosters a sense of responsibility, and cultivates a lifelong love for learning. By attending school every day, your child gains the essential tools to overcome challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.

To support you in ensuring your child's attendance remains steadfast, we have curated a wealth of valuable resources on our “Every Day Matters” website. These resources are designed to empower you with practical tips, strategies, and inspiration to encourage your child to embrace the educational journey with enthusiasm and dedication.

Our school office is always here to lend a helping hand, so do not hesitate to reach out should you require any assistance or encounter challenges in ensuring your child's consistent attendance. We understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected hurdles our way, but with your support and our unwavering commitment to your child's success, together, we can overcome any obstacles that come our way!

WELCOME BACK, TRAILBLAZER FAMILIES!

We had a wonderful first two days back to school!  It was so fun to see all of the kids and families as they walked on campus to ring in a new year!  Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Field have enjoyed walking around all of the classrooms and meeting our students!  There are almost 600 of them this year and we will be working hard to get to know their names and faces over the next few weeks.

Thank you to all of the families who came out to our Back to School Night event!  It has been a pleasure to get to meet all of you as well.  The Diamond Creek community is amazing!  I would like to especially thank our PTC who helped welcome our staff back with a yummy breakfast and coffee bar this last week.  Everyone on campus really appreciated it!

Remember starting Monday, August 14th we will ask that you say goodbye to your child at the front gates and have them walk with their classmates to their playgrounds where they will meet their teachers.  The gates will open at 7:35 am and will close at 7:45 am.  Students arriving after this time will check in through the office and head to class.
