The Student Council Executive Board is elected each fall. No experience required! Student Council plans spirit days, creates activities to build school spirit and morale, and community service activities.
Student Council Executive Board members agree to the following:
Meet weekly during lunch on Thursday (7th & 8th grade) or Tuesday (6th grade)
Help advertise all Student Council activities & events
Help with ticket sales, fundraisers, and other activities during lunch.
Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or greater
Maintain good school attendance
Maintain good behavior in class and school

No negative campaigns are allowed.
Campaigns should focus on your positive qualities and what you bring to the position.
Tell people why they should vote for you, not why they shouldn’t vote for someone else.
Do not bribe people for votes with treats and candies.
Positions
President
Lead meetings with guidance from school administrators
Act as a facilitator during discussion
Maintain frequent contact with school staff and administration
Work with administrators on all planning
Participate in student council sponsored activities/events
Vice-President
Work closely with President and administrators
Assume President’s duties when needed
Work with President and Treasurer in preparing calendar and budget
Assist the President in preparing meeting agendas
Secretary
Keep an account of minutes at every meeting with support from administrators
Keep an accurate account of attendance at every meeting
Help maintain student council files
Maintain contact information for people who work with the council
Treasurer
Maintain an accurate and detailed financial record alongside administrators
Give monetary advice to the council
Work with President and Vice President in preparing calendar and budget
Press Secretary
Coordinate with journalism for video announcements
Oversee the creation of signs/posters for school events
Design, update, and maintain student council bulletin board
Ensure school events are communicated in Spanish
Communicate information in Spanish to all newcomer Spanish-speaking students
PTO Student Representative
Attends monthly PTO meetings
Acts as liaison between PTO and Student Council - gives a report at PTO meetings and then reports on PTO meetings to Student Council
Community Service Chair
Organize community service events which can include fundraisers, supply/food drives, or other activities that benefit the community.
6th Grade Senators
Work with the 7th & 8th grade Executive Board to suggest, organize, and run Student Council events and spirit days.
