Superintendent of Schools

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome back! I am excited that we are returning to school in-person five days a week. I know we have navigated through difficult waters since March 2020, and I appreciate your courage and tireless efforts to support and advocate for our scholars.

The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority and is critical to providing a high-quality learning experience. Today, you will receive important information and resources to help ease the transition back to five days of in-person learning.

I hope you will join me in embracing our theme for the 2021 – 2022 school year: Refocus, Renew, and Reimagine. This theme provides us an opportunity to evolve, advance, and improve our approach to learning and instruction. This school year, we will forge partnerships in new and innovative ways to support our students and our staff.

Refocus: The transition from remote to in-person learning provides us an opportunity to evolve, advance, and to improve our approach to learning and instruction. We must ensure that we have an inclusive, caring, and safe learning environment for all.

Renew: We want to energize students, families, and staff to connect in person and build trusting relationships in a nurturing and safe learning environment. We need to build a strong school community where all are invested in student success and to foster authentic parent relationships between school and home.

Reimagine: Our institution must transform its programming to serve our students in innovative and groundbreaking ways. We must be trailblazers and provide high-quality learning experiences for our scholars, particularly those who have unfinished learning and minimum or significant gaps. We are counting on the creativity, the thought process, and the intellect our team has to make this happen. We will ensure that we implement student-centered learning to improve academic success for all.

Thank you for your support of the RCSD community. As we work together, we will engage, lift up, collaborate, and lead our students and staff through a successful school year!
