To be honest, I'm quite the homebody. I enjoy relaxing at home with my pets and spending time with my family. I'm not married and have no children of my own, but I do have a niece and nephew. I stay busy with creating fun and exciting lessons for my students, watching netflix, playing with the dogs, meditating, or sometimes crocheting. Staying current on health knowledge is also important to me as a health educator. Whether it be researching the latest health trends or attending professional developments, I make an effort to be educated on the latest information so that my students can be well informed.
I started teaching in the RCSD in September 2007, at 23 years old. I remember when I got hired they told me I would be working at John Marshall High School. This was a very special moment for me because my Grandmother graduated from Marshall as well as my father and his siblings. I taught at John Marshall HS from 2007-2009 where I made many memories my first two years teaching. I've been able to stay in contact with students that have graduated and am able to witness them accomplish milestones such as graduating from HS and college, becoming parents, getting married and achieving career goals.
I've been at multiple schools throughout the years and sometimes up to three buildings in one day. No matter what school I'm at, you can always be sure that I will treat my students as if they were my own kids. I put my heart and soul into my job and I love my students with all my heart. My hope is to be able to provide them with the health knowledge and skills they can use in everyday life, provide a supportive environment and cheer them on along the way.
In the Spring of my freshman year, I new membered a sorority. This was one of the best decisions I made in college. I now have a network and support system of hundreds of women across the United States. I have made lifelong friends, been in weddings, baby showers, celebrated birthdays, supported them through cancer treatments and had to say goodbye to one that recently lost her battle. If you have an opportunity to join a Greek organization, do your research first and make sure they align with your values. Get to know the people in the organization first. If anything feels off, it may not be the right fit for you.
