Our middle school Social Studies department is committed to fostering student growth as global thinkers and active participants in their local, state, country, and global communities. The focus of curriculum for 7th and 8th grade is American History, where we will endeavor to understand our own history and culture as it relates to us personally and how it relates to the cultures of others. We will examine the past in order to understand the present and use the information that we discover to express our opinions and perspectives confidently and appropriately. This foundation will prepare our scholars to move into the rigors of Regents level History courses as well as develop those foundational skills needed to become active citizens as well as proactive, productive, and positive influences and enforcers of social justice in their communities.
