The middle school mathematics program at John H. Williams School 5 focuses on instilling practical application along side abstract thinking to develop a student who reasons like a mathematician. Our goal is for students to be prepared for the rigors of Regents level math courses by making sure they have mastered the basics while building a solid foundation in higher mathematical computation and logic. Students will receive content that is a hybrid of the Common Core and the Next Generation standards as we start that transition to standards that are more developmentally appropriate and focus on the whole child. With built in math intervention as well as an honors program that allows students to experience Regents Algebra and possibly leave 8th grade with a high school Regents credit, we strive to meet the needs of all our young scholars.
