Our middle school ELA program is designed to develop linguistic and literacy skills in our young scholars. These foundational skills will build the basis for success not just in school, but in life. We are currently shifting from the Common Core to the next generation ELA standards, so the students are receiving instruction that reflects a hybrid of the two sets of standards for a more fluid transition. The Next Generation standards are more appropriately aligned to engage and educate the whole child. It also allows our teachers to design and deliver curriculum that is culturally relevant to our diverse learners. The inclusion of an honors program as well as an MTSS course that helps bridge gaps in student learning ensures that we are able to address and aid students in reaching their full potential.
