Girls Who Game is a North American club hosted by Dell, Intel, Microsoft and ALP to inspire young females minds into careers in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. These corporations recognized the shortage of female representation in these key fields and decided to design a program based on the 21st century teenager's passion for gaming. Members use their skills and passion for the game of Minecraft to build problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills as they brainstorm solutions to problems in the real world.
The Rochester City School District Girls Who Game Club began its journey as an afterschool club at P-Tech in the Fall of 2021 and has since expanded to a district wide club. In the Spring of 2021, the club placed first in North America for its work toward the UN Sustainability and Development Goals of Affordable and Clean Energy and Gender Equality.
