Purpose

This WebQuest provides a means for researching Hispanic music using an inquiry method. The goal is to provide students with important information to allow them to discover facts that will help build an understanding of popular music in Latin America. Students learn about the origin and evolution of their chosen music genre. Students are offered with 5 genres to choose from. This webquest allows students to use the three modes of communication, interpretive, interpersonal and presentational in the target language.

The structure and resources within the WebQuest is designed for students who are fluent in the Spanish language. Working in pairs, students will have the opportunity to discuss and persuade as well as support one another. The organizer and websites provided for each genre, grants the structure needed for student success. The topic is broad enough to provide adequate substance for students to work with, yet it is specific enough that clear goals can guide student work.
