Special Subjects

Mr. Steiner - P.E.

Mrs. Howe - Art

I’ve been teaching art for the past 31 years in the RCSD with at least some connection to School 22 for all of them. I received my MFA in Printmaking from RIT and then went to Nazareth College to get certification to teach. I love all kinds of visual art and enjoy both learning and teaching about famous artist to the students at School 22. Drawing and doodling can be relaxing and calming. I hope to bring that aspect to this class.

Mrs. Hamilton - Music

I’ve been teaching K-6 music in RCSD for 20 years at School #42, 17, 29, 30, 39, and beginning last year at #22. In those years, I conducted “The World’s Largest Concert” five times where students from the schools performed along with other schools around the world in over 150 countries at the same time! I formed and directed over a decade of “Petite Ballet” with the students in performances of “The Nutcracker”. I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in 2005. I am a percussionist and love to drum with my students with bucket drums, Native American drumming, African drumming, Middle Eastern Drumming, and Asian Koto Drumming. I love to see students sing, dance, play, and create music!

Ms. Diaz - Library

Hi, my name is Ms. Diaz and I am very excited to be part of the Abraham Lincoln School 22 family. I was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn, New York from the time I was six months old. I am the middle child of 7 siblings. I speak, read and write Spanish all thanks to my mom who made sure all of her kids were bilingual. I love reading and have a big collection with lots of great books.

I graduated from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn and attended the University of Buffalo for my two masters, one in Library Science and another in Education. After working in the public library (Lincoln Branch Library) for almost 18 years as a Children’s Librarian, I returned to the district in 2018. I was part of the Bilingual Academy in its second year and this past year. I was also the school librarian at RISE Community School 106. I have worked in youth services for most of my life, and absolutely love promoting reading to children and teens. In the library we learn, write, dream, listen, play, and read, read, read. And we do all of that in Spanish too.
