What is Family Group?

At East, all students are a part of small “family groups” made up of 10-15 scholars and 2 Carents (staff members), who meet daily to support and ensure student success.

Upper School Family Group Coach

Maggie Gallagher-Bippes

Margaret.Gallagher-Bippes@rcsdk12.org

This will be Ms. Gallagher's 13th year teaching. She is certified in K-12 music instruction and has a background in social emotional program leadership. Her career began with teaching music in Binghamton City, moved to Southern Cayuga Central School District and happily landed in RCSD, where she plans to spend the rest of her career. She has taught all types of music to all levels of students, and always kept social and emotional implications of music instruction at the forefront.
Ms. Gallagher believes that Family Group is a critical aspect of East because it offers staff and students the unique opportunity to create a positive, safe and healthy support system during a designated time every day.   Family Group has proven to be a place for students to find their voice, feel a sense of belonging and establish meaningful relationships.
When she's not at school Ms. Gallagher loves spending time with her two, young sons, her husband, and her cats! She loves to show her love through homemade baked goods and care packages and soaking up family time.
