Over the summer, our team got together to help a local food pantry in need. They reached out asking for donations to stock their shelves and our team stepped up to the challenge. With the help of local FLL team REM we were able to collect 20 bags of food. We are planning to turn this food drive into an annual occurrence as a way to give back to our community.
On June 1st, Ravena Robotics held it's second annual FIRST night! After our season was completed we turned our attention to getting more community involvement. We hosted five fellow FIRST teams from all levels, had games, and and ice cream bar for those who completed the robot scavenger hunt. With over 100 people in attendance it was by far bigger and better than the previous year. A huge thank you to the RCS High School for hosting and to all the teams who came out to show their robots. (FRC Teams Team #20 and Tech Valley High Schools Team #5881, FTC team Spartan Bots #10475, FLL team REM #7304, and a local Jr. FLL team.
On Friday May 20th, our team went to our local elementary school to show off our robot and teach kids about programing at their STEAM Day. We made up a game to teach them about programming where they had to "program" on of our team members through a maze. We also had a demonstration set up where kids where able to drive the robot and hear about how it was built.
On Monday February 10th, our team hosted a FIRST night at our high school to help kids get interested in robotics. We had over 100 people come and enjoy free food, watch our robot and play lots of games. The games were STEM themed using LEGOS with a variety of different coding games to help kids understand how robots work. Information about FIRST programs and coding resources were provided to parents.
Our team presented our robot at the local elementary schools STEAM day. The kids enjoyed learning about FIRST and taking turns driving the robot.
