Hello Vikings!
It is an honor to begin my tenth year of teaching at Van Hoosen Middle School this fall. I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to get to know each of you and to continue to make music in a phenomenal program. In order for me to get to know you, I'll share a little about me to get started. I am originally from Rochester Hills just like you! I attended West Middle School, and Rochester High School.
From there I went to study at Central Michigan University, where I received my degree in Music Education. I received my Masters Degree in Instrumental Wind Conducting through the American Band College with Sam Houston State University after teaching music in Florida for two years. I have been teaching band at VH for ten years now and am excited to get to know you!
I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, working out, and of course spending time making music and playing my oboe. I currently perform in the Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble, and will invite you to all of my future concerts once we start playing again! I live in Royal Oak with my husband, Tim, my son, Ellis, and our dog, Sadie. I look forward to seeing all of you very soon!
