Rochester Music Weebly: https://rcsspecials.weebly.com/music
On this page, you will find resources for learning, exploring and creating. The Rochester music team have created original music lessons for you to complete at your own interest and pace over the next few weeks. These lessons can be found on the Weebly site linked above.
I would highly encourage every student to join our MBE Specials Google Classroom. We will use Classroom to share what you've learned about or created during this time, and to communicate as a crew. You need help from a parent or trusted adult who has a Google Email. Here are instructions on how to join Classroom:
https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6020297?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
The class code to our Specials Classroom is linked above. I will ask questions through Google Classroom that you can choose to answer, to communicate about the assignments you've chosen to work on and to connect with thoughts and ideas about music during this period of remote learning.
In addition to your choice of lessons, I have packed this website full of activities and webpages that you can visit for your own discovery and creation. Everything you can do on this page is fun and optional- totally up to you what you choose to do! :)
If you have any questions throughout the coming weeks, please email me at agriffin@rochester.k12.mi.us or message me through Google Classroom. I am here for you ready to answer any questions or just say hello. I miss you all, and hope that you have fun exploring the resources on this page. Happy music making! :)
Lots of love,
Ms. Griffin
Hello 2nd and 3rd grade families,
I hope you are well during these unprecedented times. I have been thinking a lot about our 2nd and 3rd grade students who had been working very hard to prepare for their spring concert, which would have taken place on March 26th. Since we will be unable to put on our concert performance in person this spring, I would like to assemble a virtual concert showcase on my class website. In this concert showcase, I will display videos of any students who would like to participate singing one or more of their concert songs. When the concert showcase goes live, students and families will be able to click on the concert videos that their peers have made, and enjoy listening to and watching their performances. This is a completely optional opportunity- no student or family are required to make videos for the showcase. I only wish to provide a platform for our amazing students to share what they’ve learned and practiced, and to feel celebrated for their wonderful work this year.
To create a video of your student singing their concert songs, I would recommend practicing and singing along with the concert music. The music and lyrics for every concert song can be found on our music class website. Each grade has their own grade level specific concert songs in addition to a few that we would’ve sung together, so please refer to your student’s grade level page when looking for their performance materials.
You could decide to record your student singing along with the practice track (my vocals included) or with the song accompaniment track (just background music/no other vocals included). You could also choose to play your own accompaniment, or sing a cappella, with no music in the background! Whatever you create is going to be fantastic.
Once your concert video is recorded, please send it to me via email (agriffin@rochester.k12.mi.us) in one of the following shareable formats:
-Vimeo video
-YouTube video
-Raw video file (mp4), which will then be uploaded as an unlisted YouTube video with link-only access (meaning only the people with the link can view the video)
If you end up with multiple video files because you’ve recorded many songs, I would be happy to compile them into one video for you- in that instance, please send each of the mp4 files to me via email.
My goal is to have the video concert showcase premiere live on our class website on Monday, May 4th at 3pm. I will continue uploading concert performances to our class website as I receive them after May 4th, but am hoping to have submissions collected by then. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at any time- I am here to help! I can’t wait to see what our community creates, and to watch the kiddos singing and performing again.
I hope you have a great week, and look forward to working on this project together!
Sincerely,
Ms. Annie Griffin

Lyrics:
Translation:
All the colors, all the colors, how they dress up the countryside in springtime,
All the colors, all the colors of birdies, oh how they come back to us outside,
All the colors, all the colors in rainbows we see shining bright in the sky,
And that's why a great love of all colors makes me feel like singing so joyfully,
And that's why a great love of all colors makes me feel like singing so joyfully!

Lyrics:
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!
I see skies of blue and clouds of white,
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night,
And I think to myself: what a wonderful world…
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying “how do you do?”
They're really saying, “I love you”,
I see babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
Then I think to myself, what a wonderful world,
Then I think to myself, what a wonderful world…

My roots go down!
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down!
I am a wildflower growing in the meadow
I am a wildflower growing in the meadow
I am a wildflower growing in the meadow
My roots go down!
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down!
I am a mountain, strong and still
I am a mountain, strong and still
I am a mountain, strong and still,
My roots go down!
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down!
