Checking Out Bobcat Library Materials
Checking Out Bobcat Library Materials
HOW LONG? Books, audiobooks, and magazines are checked out for four weeks, but you may return them before they are due. If you need to keep them longer, you may renew them for another three weeks. If your book is already past due, you must bring it to the library to renew it.
REFERENCE BOOKS: Reference books are checked out for one night. They must be returned or renewed the next school day.
HOW MANY? You may check out three items at a time. If you already have three items checked out, you may check out another one only if you return one of the others—unless you have any overdue items (see next item).
OVERDUES: If you have an overdue item, you must return it before you may check out anything else. Overdue fees are not charged, we are just happy to get the material back in good condition.
LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS: If a book or other library property is lost or damaged beyond repair, you must pay to have it replaced. If you pay for a lost item and then find it, you will receive a refund when you return the item to the library in good condition, within a reasonable time frame. (180 school days)

Fiction books are organized by genre and are located on the book shelves away from the walls.
GENRES:
- Book Club - recommended reads for this school year that you can vote on!
- Classics - older books that many people have read
- Realistic - stories that could happen in real life, but didn't
- Action/Adventure - fast paced books that contain suspense
- Animal - real animals are characters or an important element in these books
- Fantasy - magic, magical creatures, imagined world
- Graphic Novels - told in illustrations and writing
- Manga - Japanese graphic novels
- Historical - Setting (time & place) are accurate
- Humor - get ready to laugh!
- Mystery - problem of the story is a question that the characters and readers must solve
- Romance - love and relationships
- Scary - ghost and gruesomeness
- Science Fiction - unreal aspects are due to science not magic and setting is often in the future with similar rules to our own.
- Spanish
- Sports - characters are athletes
- Verse - story told in a series of poems
- War - characters are in the war
- Poetry - contain words that follow a rhythm or structure that are designed on evoke emotion and thought.
- Picture Books - pictures and words must both be read to understand the text

Nonfiction books are located on the bookshelves against the walls and arranged by topics according to the Dewey Decimal System with numbers.
Audiobooks
Audiobooks
Our audiobook collection is located on the short gray shelves. Find the case of the book you would like to listen to and the librarian will give you the materials you need.
Search "playaway" in the catalog to see the collection online.
Additional Information:
Our audiobooks come pre-loaded onto small mp3 players called Playaways. You need your own headphones or earbuds to listen to these players outside of the library.If the battery dies, come to the library for a fresh battery.
Because our selection of audiobook titles on Playaway is limited, and because they are expensive, students are only allowed to check out one at a time. For more information on Playaways, visit the Playaway website at http://my.playaway.com/
