DIS students who do not meet the previous year's state literacy benchmarks will receive evidence-based reading instruction and interventions through a scheduled reading class with Mrs. Morris. The class will be designed around teaching the latest evidence-based reading strategies for reading fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will read at their independent reading level and their instructional reading level, with practice in grade-level text to prepare for the state's standardized reading test. Students will become more proficient readers and writers.
