Moreno Valley Unified School District in conjunction with Riverside County Office of Education work together to offer a dynamic Career Technical Education program in Sports Medicine under the CTE Health Science and Medical Technology sector. The program offers students the ability to expand their knowledge of health careers and establish a foundational platform for careers in physical therapy, exercise science, athletic training, sports medicine, and careers relating the to the medical and paramedical field.
This two-year program prepares students for a career in the field of sports medicine and related patient care medical professions. Students will acquire practical hands-on experience and knowledge in the recognition, assessment, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Skills include taping, first aid, CPR, vital signs, wound care, and more.
The pathway includes high-level 21st-century skills, such as effective communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration that have been identified as foundational to success in this field.
Earn college credit while in high school.
Earn a graduation stole representing the Sports Medicine pathway.
Receive a Sports Medicine pathway uniform.
Earn valuable industry certifications such as first and CPR, STOP the Bleed, and many more.

Courses:
RCOE Intermediate Sports Medicine: (UC a-g “G-Science”); grades 9, 10 and 11; Articulated with RCC: KIN-16 or MSJC: PE-110 (students can receive college credit for successful completion).
RCOE Advanced Sports Medicine: (UC a-g “G-Science”); encouraged for grades 11 and 12; Articulated with RCC: KIN-30 or MSJC: PE-115 (students can receive college credit for successful completion).
RCOE Applied Concentrator Sports Medicine Lab (Optional): encouraged for all students who have successfully passed the RCOE Advanced Sports Medicine course or are currently enrolled in RCOE Advanced Sports Medicine and want to gain further hands-on skills while working with our student athletes under the direct supervision of the instructor and our head athletic trainer.
