We are the Rotary Club of Manila Bay

In tribute to 27 years of Rotary service, we have created this website to share the souvenir programs of the past inductions and charter anniversaries of the club.

In 1994, a diverse group of thirty-one young, dynamic, and energetic professionals, who were brought together by their belief that “Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life”, wanted to render service to their fellow men beyond the Jaycee movement. Group meetings were continuously held beginning September 1994 to explore the best way and manner to continue serving humanity. After months of meetings and consultations, the decision was made to join the Rotary Family by forming a new Rotary club.

This group of thirty-one, joined by eight other kindred spirits, organized themselves into the Rotary Club of Manila Bay by electing on June 8, 1995 at the Manila Diamond Hotel, Dr. Ali Laghab, an Iranian Doctor of Medicine based in the Philippines, as Charter President, and Atty. Alexander Padilla, former Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs, as President-Elect. Charter Officers and Board of Directors were securities broker Mark Dayrit as Vice-President; labor practitioner Dindo Garciano as Secretary-General; real estate broker Ma. Lourdes Abela as Treasurer; and as Directors, LTFRB Chairman Dan Lantin, human rights lawyer Erin Tañada, 1990 Bar Topnotcher Atty. Koko Pimentel, Insurance executives Laz Larrauri and Mon Ilustre, maritime lawyer Atty. Louie Bantog, health practitioner Dr. Bobby Macatangay, marketing man Abel Manliclic, and feng shui expert Aldric Dalumpines.

The Rotary Club of Manila Bay was chartered on August 1, 1995 as Rotary Club 30960 under Rotary International District 3810. The charter induction of its Officers, Directors and members followed on September 28, 1995 at the Manila Diamond Hotel attended by the “who’s who” of RI District 31810, the largest Rotary district in the world.
