SELF MANAGEMENT- SIGNIFICANCE DURING EARLY YEARS

Self-management is our ability to manage our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions in a conscious and productive way. Someone with strong self-management skills knows what to do and how to act in different situations.

Self-management skills can be developed in children as young as preschoolers. They can be used to teach children to pay attention to their own behavior and to complete activities or engage in interactions using appropriate behavior. Self-management can help children use appropriate play and social interaction skills, participate in classroom routines, and engage in instructional activities.

Self-management can be used to teach children what is expected of them, such as tasks they are supposed to do. Self-management procedures can help children keep track of whether or not they completed their tasks. Children can learn to monitor their own behavior and control their own actions through using self-management techniques.

Few tips on how to encourage self management in young children:

Create an environment where self-control is consistently rewarded:

Many a times, its not self-control that the child may lack, they may lack motivation.

A student who won’t cooperate in the classroom might seem like the poster child for poor self-regulation. But give him his favorite set of Lego or a beloved video game, and he’s all focus, persistence, and drive. They need to find enjoyment in the things they are asked to do, and that’s where they need our help. Kids benefit when we remove temptations and distractions, and create environments that reward self-restraint.

Support young children with timely reminders:

It’s hard to stick with the program if you don’t remember the rules, and young children have more trouble keeping directions in mind. They are easily distracted. So it’s helpful to remind young children about our expectations.

Give them a Break-

A creature who sticks with the same old work routine, never taking a break, is apt to miss important changes in the environment. By taking time out to play and explore, we increase our chances of discovering profitable new opportunities.

Whichever account is correct, the upshot is the same: If you ask a child to go straight from one unpleasant duty to the next, self-control is likely to suffer.

Giving kids a break can help them re-charge, and it’s also a good way to learn. Studies suggest that kids learn faster when lessons are shorter and separated by some downtime.

Encourage self reflection, planning and learning from failures:

Instill the right mindset for tackling challenges and learning from failure. We need to assure them that failures are normal, but we need to learn from our failures to do better in future.

Encourage children to practice planning, but support them when situation does not proceed as planned and guide them about how they can plan better and succeed next time.

Its important to remember that kids need timely reminders to stay on track, and concrete, practical advice for staying motivated, overcoming obstacles, and sticking to a plan. When self-management procedures are carefully implemented, positive changes in behavior can be expected.

  Pre primary Festive Celebration

 Ganesh Chaturthi

Nursery Learners created a mouse by using sponge and dabbing with silver colour on a paper plate.  This helped in exercising eye hand coordination, fine motor skills and learners were able to increase their concentration as well.

We  celebrated the joyous occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm and devotion. The entire school came alive with the vibrant energy and spirit of our students as they brought Ganpati idols to our premises in a magnificent procession. The day commenced with an air of excitement as our young ones, adorned in traditional attire, gathered with their beautifully crafted Ganpati idols. With smiles on their faces and hearts filled with reverence, they embarked on a joyous dance-filled procession through the school premises. The rhythmic beats of drums and the melodious chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya" echoed through the corridors, creating an atmosphere of pure bliss.

K 1 learners were given a cut out of orange chart paper and some decorations to create Lord Ganesha's mask.  Through shapes and different sizes learners were able to manipulate these cutouts to form a constructive art work which also enhanced their eye hand coordination and increased their thinking ability that helped them to generate new ideas.

K 2 learners created Ganapati Bappu with paper cups and decorative paper materials. Learners were able to create and manipulate art materials with different cutout of shapes and paper to enhance their creativity.

PLAY LAB INAUGURATION FOR

PRE PRIMARY LEARNERS

We are excited to introduce our innovative initiative, the "Play Lab," exclusively designed for our pre-primary students. We believe in providing a holistic learning experience that inspires young minds to think outside the box and channel their diverse skills. The Play Lab is a dynamic space where our little ones indulge in various activities related to their lessons. It serves as a creative playground, allowing them to explore, experiment, and learn through play. Here, children have the opportunity to think creatively, collaborate with peers, and develop essential skills that go beyond traditional classroom methods.
