High School Mini-Med School at the University of Missouri Columbia is returning this June for two sessions. Session 1 runs from June 2-6 and Session 2 is from June 9-13.
This overnight camp is for Missouri high school rising seniors who are interested in a career in medicine. Students will attend lectures and will participate in the same Patient Based Learning (PBL) curriculum that Mizzou medical students do. We will have lots of hands-on clinical experiences, time our simulation and anatomy centers and social events in the evenings. This is a great experience for anyone who is considering medical school after college.
The cost for this camp is $650 which includes all the camp fees, lodging, camp deposit of $50 and meals. There are some scholarships available, and the application is free to complete.
The application is open January 12 and is due March 17 along with a transcript and a letter of recommendation from a past or current science teacher. For more information about the camp and the application visit: https://medicine.missouri.edu/offices-programs/education/pre-med-outreach-programs/mini-medical-school
The Bezos Scholars Program, a FREE yearlong leadership development program is currently accepting applications from eligible juniors. Applications are due in a couple of weeks, on January 25, 2024.
Successful applicants have a strong commitment to their education and demonstrate maturity, curiosity, perseverance and leadership. As part of their application, students need to nominate a school staff person as their educator who completes a recommendation on their behalf.
Though the program does not provide financial aid for college, we offer every student a year of free college advising, which includes support with applying for and securing financial aid and scholarships. Impact assessments show that after a year in the program, student scholars yield equivalent or higher learning gains across critical leadership and socio-emotional outcomes as students who have completed a full year of college.
