Class Overview

English

Throughout the school year, English will focus on writing, including narrative, expository, descriptive and persuasive styles, grammar, and vocabulary.

Reading

Throughout the school year, reading will focus on studying the different genres of reading: drama, poetry, folk literature, fiction, non-fiction, and short stories. Students will also learn reading strategies to help with comprehension with each genre. Throughout the year, students will be reading several novels: Refugee by Alan Gratz and Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
