Welding 2020-2021
FAQ’s
1. When are fees due? The welding class does not require students to pay fees. First year students will need to provide their own PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) which includes long sleeve shirt (denim preferred)100% cotton no flannel, work pants (denim preferred) 100% cotton, a cloth baseball style hat no mesh, over the ankle leather work boots slip-on preferred, and prescription safety glasses if you wear glasses.
2. Second year students are encouraged to begin purchasing the equipment necessary to enter the welding field as a career. Students can order equipment and pay by the end of the semester. 1st year Seniors will be given the opportunity to purchase equipment at the beginning of the second semester.
3. This year will begin with virtual teaching beginning September 8th through at least October 22nd. The Raytown School Board is scheduled to look at the remainder of the semester being virtual or face-to-face at their October 12th meeting.
4. Students scheduled for the AM session will be required to attend their Zoom meetings from 7:30 -10:10 at the time designated by the instructor. Students scheduled for the PM session will be required to attend their Zoom meetings from 11:30 - 2:10 at the time designated by the instructor. Zoom meetings will typically be no more than twenty minutes in length since we will be working with groups no larger than 11 students per meeting. The smaller groups will allow us to give better instruction and answer questions on the detailed aspects of a welding career.
5. Zoom meetings are currently scheduled as Monday and Friday meetings required. Wednesday meetings will be scheduled from 10:30 - 12:00 and are open attendance, a great time for questions and discussion.
